I've been playing around with for over a month now. At some point, I had to make my first derivation. And what better software to package than @frameworkcomputer's inputmodule-control CLI.

After a bit of documentation, trial-and-error and 3 hours of time, the package is now building. I must say, it's almost scary how nix packaging works. A bit like black magic.

The package is not perfect yet. udev rules are still missing. Will fix that tomorrow and then create a PR :)

I wouldn't really have expected that creating a directory with 600,000 directories in it would be that big a problem in 2023! This is just files! I thought we'd figured out files.

Something I have gradually learned with Computers is most types of technology really don't improve over time, they improve until they hit an "oh, good enough" point and then they just stop there, and never improve again, even if improvements are possible and someone thinks of them they won't get adopted

@01adrianrdgz @Bro666 @kde @kde right when Microsoft said "Microsoft ❤️ Linux", they also announced something big: .NET MAUI. .NET is Microsoft's standard library and runtime when coding C#. It had become cross-platform already, so you can now compile for Linux. Only thing missing was a good UI framework. MAUI was invented to address this. You know what happened? MAUI supports Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone. Not Linux.

Microsoft doesn't love Linux, Microsoft loves using Linux for Azure.

Ich habe in den letzten Wochen tausende Seiten zum Thema Registermodernisierung von verschiedensten deutschen Behörden per befreit.

Es entsteht technisch gesehen eine zentrale Datenbank mit irgendwann mal allen Daten die der Staat über uns hat. Ohne ein Sicherheitskonzept.

    We are not sustainable (and neither is any other device maker). This industry is full of "feel good" messaging, but outputs 50M tons of e-waste each year. We believe the best way to reduce environmental impact is to create products that last longer.

    We commissioned Fraunhofer IZM to do a detailed life cycle analysis on Framework Laptop 13 to help us understand where we are today and where we can continue to improve.

    Traue mich ja schon gar nicht mehr ueber meine Zugreisen in zu berichten... das waere auch ein unfairer Vergleich gegenueber Laendern mit halbwegs entwickelter Infrastruktur.

    Inzwischen ist es mir einfach egal. Ich habe mich damit abgefunden, dass ich nie(!) puenktlich bin und es von Hamburg nach Muenchen 6.5h dauert.

    Das muss diese Deutschlandgeschwindigkeit sein, von der immer alle reden und die wird dem Land noch gehoerig auf die Fuesse fallen!

    @pallenberg ich würde so gerne mehr ÖPNV nutzen. Zu Schulzeiten wurden Bahnverspätungen jedoch leider am Ende des Jahres als unentschuldigte Fehlstunden erfasst. Selbst Minuten wurden erfasst und auf Stunden aufaddiert. Das konnte ich mir bei meinem Bewerbungszeugnis nicht erlauben. Jetzt im Berufsleben würde ÖPNV für mich bedeuten, jeden Tag pauschal Überstunden zu machen, um morgens Verspätungen auszugleichen. Oder halt "einfach" NOCH früher aufstehen. Ist nen Witz :/

    @gamingonlinux their CEO is a guy that was even too greedy for EA. Let that sink in. He's focused on monetization so much, nothing good can come out of that.

    Die Frage kommt wirklich oft: »Wie kann man YouTube werbefrei nutzen?«. Da gibt es mehrere Möglichkeiten. Anbei die IMHO besten Möglichkeiten für Desktop, Android und iOS. 👇

    Alternative: Upgrade auf YouTube-Premium. Muss aber jeder selbst entscheiden, ob er eine Geschäftsbeziehung zu einer Datenkrake wie Google eingehen möchte.

    @kuketzblog ich kann für Android nur ReVanced empfehlen. Ist zwar nen ticken aufwendiger, als einfach etwas wie NewPipe zu installieren, lohnt sich aber enorm. Keine Werbung, keine Shorts, kein Filmregal, keine Community Beiträge, einfach nur Videos. Mit Integration für Return Youtube Dislikes und SponsorBlock.

    @alatiera I know that systemd is not perfect. It had a rough past and the developers behind it.. Let's say they didn't always communicate very well. Nonetheless, I am a big fan of systemd, too. It's my init system, I use it to manage services and I could even ditch grub for it. But I love grub and my bootable btrfs snapshots. It also handles time synchronization and could do DNS if I wouldn't use NetworkManager. It's also a central place to view all kinds of logs. It's awesome :)

    Man, I’ve been playing around with Asahi Linux for a bit, and I must say, it’s pretty solid!

    @tagesschau dualer Student hier. Ich schreibe zurzeit meine Bachelorarbeit zuende und habe die Ausbildung zum Software-Entwickler gemacht. Aus meiner Erfahrung heraus muss ich dem Artikel teilweise leider widersprechen. Die Chancen ohne Studium stehen extrem schlecht. Ich sehe es ja an meinem Betrieb, den Betrieben meiner Kommilitonen und meinem Freundeskreis. Also kein Wunder für diese Zahlen. Wie gesagt, meine Meinung und Erfahrung, ich habe hier keine wissenschaftlich belegte Basis.
