Calling it

Threads is the hellhole that we thought Twitter was going to be.

@jrm4 I really do think their attempt to federate is going to shine a giant spotlight on this, and unless they make rapid course correction, going to be the death of their platform. Unlike the dead bird, nobody is invested in their presence on Threads. If the vibes are bad, it's over.

@jrm4 It's so frustrating how many folks on the fedi are caught up in this belief that we're weak and Facebook is brilliant and unstoppable. 🙄

I don’t know how naive it is, but I keep wondering if there’s a come back story for Twitter brewing. I feel like I keep seeing signs pointing that way.

Basically it’ll be accepted as the Windows of social media with people happily celebrating what good parts of it they can and pointing out, not unreasonably, the real flaws of the alternatives.

The migrations may come to be seen as reactionary and falsely expecting too much of tech to fix fundamentally people problems.

To be clear, this wasn’t advocacy for the notion, just a musing as to something that might happen. I don’t follow Twitter or Threads, at all, so I wouldn’t know.
