pepecyb,

@MisskeyTalk

I have closed the group "FirefishTalk" (renamed to "KeyTalk", which unfortunately only changed the title but not the handle) and created a new group "MisskeyTalk". I hope that interesting threads will also be posted here, which may help users and admins:

A group for users and administrators of the Fediverse service Misskey for questions, discussions, instructions, user experiences, help requests, help and more...

Users and admins of the services Sharkey, Iceshrimp, Catodon, Firefish and similar are also welcome in the group.

Sharkey,

@pepecyb @MisskeyTalk A wild Sharkey has appeared :blahaj:

pepecyb,

@Sharkey @MisskeyTalk

Well, I hope that some people will join again.

I'd like to see a constructive co-operation develop here, which can be of benefit to the users and possibly also to the one or other admin.

On the one hand, I find it very exciting and positive that there are now a few more forks (or fork forks) of Misskey. I think diversity is good. That was also the reason for me to get into Firefish. I liked it and I also liked the community (users). That's why I installed my own instance. And I put a lot of time and effort into German-language user documentation. And now the bubble burst and everything was pretty much for nothing.

That was the reason why I installed Misskey (as an open instance) and moved my main activities there. For now, I'll keep an eye on the various forks. I don't want to saddle up on a doomed horse again. I'm also still dependent on YunoHost. I use my server with YunoHost because I don't want to burn my lifetime with the sometimes very complex server configuration. This has advantages (the administration is simple and reliable), but also a real disadvantage: I am limited to the applications that are offered for installation by maintainers there (yes, I can also install non-maintained software, but then I am again dependent on controlling everything myself). Unfortunately, Sharkey, for example, is not yet offered... and I guess it will be the same with Catodon (if at all).

However, I have just created an account with Shonk so that I can "have my say" and get to know Sharkey (@hvetinari). I don't use such accounts that much because I prefer my own instances. Let's see. If it suits me (so far I think it's quite inspiring and well done) and it's offered as a YunoHost app, then I might set up my own instance and appear there under my "standard identity".
