Are communities from other instances bugged? Am I stupid?

Specifically, communities from lemmy seem to show lower post/subscriber counts here than on lemmy, and don't display all of the posts?
For example:
lemmy.ml/c/anime reports 1.8K subscribers, meanwhile
kbin.social/m/anime@lemmy.ml has a whopping 61.
Does the 61 refer to kbin users subscribed to the community rather than the total amount or something? How exactly does this work? pls explain I'm new to the fediverse

I'm working really hard on this, there might be some turbulence soon.

doofdilla,

thank you for your ongoing effort and support and communication about it.

Is it possible to whitelist all known federated domains on cloudflare so they can bypass ddos protection?

AFAIK it's because of the federated system.

This instance is still new so it fetches content little by little when users interact with external communities and this is also true for votes. There could be federation issue to fix, though and sometimes it takes time to sync.

In general, to see the real number or all the interactions of a post you can open it in the original instance.

On kbin select "copy url to fediverse" in the "more" menu and on lemmy it should be the icon with the fedi logo.

Thanks for clearing that up.

So when everything is up and running properly, all the instances should eventually be completely synchronized right? Meaning all the posts and comments on a lemmy community would be visible from here immediately, and vice versa?

I'm no dev or admin but my understanding is that being fully synchronized is not that simple, both because it could be too demanding for small instances and because it's a topic that involves privacy for many that prefer to be less connected but when your instance is pretty active I think the amount of connections should be pretty decent anyway and if it's not you can visit other "federations" and import new stuff.

This is a guide for mastodon but it explains well the concept of federation: https://mastodon.help/en#HowFederationWorksTheory

theoretically, yes. you should see the same content on both sites more or less. right now things are a bit bugged so it's not quite working properly.
