People living in the US, if you live in a "red" state be hyper vigilant. Your state legislature might try to shove through a complete rewrite of your state constitution on your 2024 ballot and write it in a way makes you think it's a good thing!
The Florida Legislature is proposing rewriting our constitution because pesky judges keep throwing out their federally and locally unconstitutional laws. Oh and they really don't like for citizens to be able to form their own ballot initiatives to amend our constitution. Ohio knows what I'm talking about.

Before everyone gets too spun up about reports Judge #Cannon has been assigned to the #Trump case, a little law. I used to be an appellate chief in the 11th Circuit (where #Florida is) and I litigated a few appeals where we asked the court of appeals to order a judge to recuse. #legal
Altho a judge's behavior in court generally doesn't form the basis for recusal, the 11th Circuit has ordered "reassignment" where a judge leans so heavily for a defendant they call their objectivity in the eyes of the public into question
This is persuasive authority that Judge Cannon must step aside if the case falls to her as a permanent assignment. Her court & certainly the 11th won't tolerate damage it would do to their credibility if she failed to voluntarily recuse.

Smith seems very thorough. I don't think he'll jump to a recusal request immediately, but I don't think he'll be shy in asking for that once he's confident he's got a record that strongly supports the request.
Wouldn't it be awesome if Trump's own judge fails to save his ass and gives him a harsh sentence in the event of a guilty verdict. The fact that the case is being tried in #Florida makes it impossible for Trump to say that it's all bias and part of the deep state a state he won by 3 points and a Trumper won reelection by 20
Why did they pass this bill in #Florida? I'm genuinely asking, I'm not looking for "because they're bigots". I believe they know it's bulshit, after all governors are aware of statistics.I'm considering maybe it's manhood that feels threatened to them by the existence of trans people. If being a man is not about the sex you were assigned at birth, maybe it feels to them they have to prove their manhood and there's already a big depression issue for men so it's "too much"? Any other ideas?
