Office jokes aside, would that essentially give Jordan whatever position Patrick McHenry is now holding?

So, let me see the way forward here: They vote for McCarthy again, this time with Jordan as his number 2. Vote McCarthy out. Jordan becomes Speaker Pro Tempore. Then, "to keep government going" they vote Jordan as speaker.

All they want is to get Trump's guy in there without necessarily voting directly for him.
