We don't just believe in them--we practice what we preach & vaccinate ourselves and our families!

🧵To this day, I am still somewhat in shock at how much #COVIDdenial within my immediate family has impacted how I interact with them.

Some context: My family all lives back east. My hometown is small and conservative. I've always been the person in my family who is a "rabble rouser" so to speak. I was raised in a catholic conservative household, and although my siblings and I have abandoned both of those things at varying levels much to my parents chagrin, I've always been the most "radical" of us all.

However, when #COVID19 came to the U.S. my family was 100% on board with the science. They masked, they locked down, and they took it very seriously in the beginning. My parents worried for their community members as well as family and friends.

CookieCat,

My parenrs are very conservative, but they have also always trusted the medical profession. Theyre not anti vaxxers or anything like that (thank goodness).

I remember distinctly a conversation with my mom when the conspiracy theories around covid began circulating. She couldn't believe it.

My dad almost had a physical altercation with someone in town because he told them they needed to respect the employees at the local gas station and like the sign on the door requested.

Everyone in my family got their as soon as possible.

It’s. Not. Over.

😷💉“New vaccine is due out next month, but health experts & analysts say it is likely to be coolly received even as hospitalizations from "Eris", a variant of the Omicron, rise.”

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/new-covid-vaccines-are-way-eris-variant-rises-2023-08-14/

JaneDoeTheFirst,

@GottaLaff

It's not as if governments and public health are going to push it either.

I had an adverse reaction to the vaccine and need to see an allergist two weeks before a shot to get several shots of monoclonal antibodies to prevent a bad reaction (not life-threatening so far). And then get the vaccine in an allergy clinic in a hospital. It's a pain. Can't wait for the new one.

Meanwhile, my friends whine about having to walk into a pharmacy and get jabbed. "Again?" My eyes are rolling out of my head. I just don't understand.

All, if you've gotten out of the habit of wearing masks, please start wearing them again.

@Celeste_pewter There is an XBB variant booster expected to get approval at the end of August.

I would advise people to wait and get that one as soon as possible, rather than get an outdated booster for old variants that could delay their eligibility for the most current/relevant one.

Back in 2014, Gemma O'Doherty was lauded as a leading investigative journalist. This when she sued Independent Newspapers for unfair dismissal.

O'Doherty won that case, with NUJ support. Today she is revealed for what is clearly is: a fascist who uses her Irish Light rag to torment those who challenge conspiracy theories around the Covid vaccine and much more besides.

We journalists must own this failure.

I don’t know anything about the website behind this story, but I think the article does a good job explaining (in an understandable way) why the next booster will be monovalent. I think some people think that “monovalent” implies it is weaker or less effective than “bivalent”, so an explanation like this could help ease that concern.

H/T @drustevenson for sharing the article.

Our fall boosters will likely be a monovalent formula
An advisory committee for voted unanimously (21 to 0) to recommend updating vaccines for the 2023-2024 period to be a monovalent formula targeting the latest subvariant lineage of XBB. If all goes smoothly, the FDA is expecting new shots around September. https://arstechnica.com/health/2023/06/our-fall-covid-boosters-will-likely-be-a-monovalent-xbb-formula/

Suppose I should implement since I also adds a vaccine injury hashtag while discussing how I’m on my fourth shot and got not a single one.

Injection site soreness doesn’t count, and is a given when a needle is shoved into a muscle. Takes 24-48 to resolve completely.

If you agree with me, please ! I do tend to boost but I’m a democrat with heart and I’m sick of the shit going on in this country. We need actions rather than words. We need votes, too, but not exclusively! There is more you can do…

1.1) MATT WALSH: I have appeared on FNC many times. I appreciate the platform they’ve given me. If what I’m about to say ruins that relationship, so be it. We have to call this evil lunacy out wherever we see it. Especially on our own side.
Today Fox ran a long segment for Pride Month celebrating a “trans kid” who “came out as a boy” at the age of five. The piece did not simply report on the controversy surrounding child transitioning. It outright promotes the practice.
