"240 million PCs could end up in landfills when Windows 10 support ends"
Sure.
Or they could be repurposed with #Linux or Chrome OS Flex, or #FreeBSD, and we can stop being so freaking dramatic.
If you just browse, watch Netflix, shop, net banking, etc, Linux distributions like Mint or Ubuntu could save you money. It is an environment-friendly option.
Not to mention that #CensorBoot aka. "#SecureBoot" is insecure by #Microsoft's own admission, so all it achieves is #PowerAbuse by putting in another extra step to make #Linux work that has nothing to do with #Security and entirely with pissing off users.
@ljrk@lexd0g and no, #PGP fixes the #trust issue to one only needing to trust one person at a time and not some corporation to be a front for some cybercriminals and OS/Browser vendors to do their due diligence...
Call me paranoid but I only trust people, not orgs or corporations!

The guide provides every option available, too. Starting with using their Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), to using a Virtual Machine, and even on "Bare Metal" alongside Windows.
That's right, Microsoft now tells you how to dual-boot Linux. 🤯
Yeah but that's just minimally less bad than going full #heads as aftermarket #firmware and requiring all executeables to be signed by the device owners' personal PGP keys...
#Ubuntu is literally signed with said "#SecureBoot" aka. #CensorBoot keys and you can literally use #Ventoy to circumvent that since that's also supporting "Secure" boot...
Either way, the only valid option is to refuse to buy that shit in the first place and demand a full refund because one should be able to expect the ability to install their own OS of choice in 2023.
Thx for reminding me why I never bought any #ThinkPad ever since...
LB: Lol so far for "code signing/notarization makes users more secure!" I mean I always figured it would lead to rubberstamping giving the volume of software needing to be signed. The whole thing always felt like just an excuse to squeeze developers for subscription style income and hurts the liberties of users and developers
