I tried upgrading to the latest version of the #system76#coreboot firmware, but didn't fix Thunderbird.
By the way, @system76, why aren't firmware upgrades available on #LVFS?
The system76-firmware tool isn't even packaged for Fedora, so I had to build it from sources to find that my Lemur Pro was missing the 2024-02-20 update.

I wish I could say "not affected by #LogoFAIL" but only two of my computers in my collection run Coreboot. One really old T400 and the openSUSE-converted C13 Yoga Chromebook. Perhaps more vendors should take security seriously. #coreboot#linux
Is there anything architecturally prohibiting someone from making an x86 system that boots like an embedded ARM device?
In other words a tiny "boot ROM" stub on SPI flash that loads a bootloader from SPI flash, which then pulls a kernel and device tree off a partition of your actual boot device and launches it.
No BIOS/UEFI, no bbram-backed configuration, no setup menu. Maybe a jumper or something to make "boot from USB mass storage" the first entry in the search list, once, for OS installation or recovery.
Old #thinkpads are the best, I love how repairable they are and how easy it is to upgrade some components on them.
I found an adapter that allowed me to install a NGFF M.2 WiFi adapter into the mini-PCIe slot on my x230, and it works! My ~11yo thinkpad can now do WiFi 6.
I'm glad to finally see the "Purism is a scam company" story getting real traction four years after I initially published my blog series on the subject.
