@trumpet@shadowsminder That's the average #cryptobro for you. They demand it as a payment method because shitcoin XY is the future and you'll miss out on huge amounts of money but never pay a cent.
I have a question about #cryptobro thought (for want of a better term) processes.
When something like this happens, how is it a "#hack"? The whole point of #SmartContracts, as I understand them, is that the code is the contract. Whatever is in the code is by definition the contract and anything the code allows forms the terms and conditions of the contract.
So how can this be called a "hack" or a "#theft". You're literally abiding by the terms of the contract!
So yesh, 10+ mins for a transaction to appear on the blockchain (not even be confirmed) is ridiulous when #Monero does that in 2min and 6mins respectably and that those funds are spendabke after a mere 10 blocks or 20mins by the reciever... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asmOZh-E8W0
"But Bitcoin is a great way to monetize excess renewables"
No, this was never true. If you make a capital investment in a mining rig, then you want that rig making you money 24hrs, not just when the rest of the grid is not consuming renewables.
Again: There is no valid reason to use #Bitcoin :bitcoin: except to sell it to some #BiggerFool, thus cashout as best as possible and if possible, retire.
alright, I think it's time to translate the #NWB spec language to RDF and start on the first leg of getting this p2p thing off the ground and mirror all the neurophysiology archives. got a big stack of hard drives and bandwidth going to waste
• People are having fun. People clearly missed using Twitter to shitpost.
• There are no norms yet. Nobody uses content warnings, nor is there a built-in feature for content warnings.
• Nobody uses alt text. Nobody gets scolded for not using alt text. Right now, Bluesky seems like a nightmare for blind and low-vision people.
• It's eery to see known abusers on Bluesky who I've had blocked for years, without the ability to block them.
• It's only a matter of days before violent right-wing accounts like Ady Ng show up on Bluesky. They WILL be allowed on, and they WILL build large followings, and the content moderation and privacy tools of Bluesky are not yet up to the task.
Was just asked by a friend if I wanted a #BlueSky invite.
My reply?
“Thanks but no thanks.”
Why?
Because I don’t need to see the app. I know the people behind it and what they stand for. The app can only ever be a manifestation of (or an initial misdirection from) that.
Expecting the wolf that took a bite out of you last time to this time act in your interests is how you end up as its dinner.
ROFLAMO - some #CryptoBro with "Ape Gone" in his name on #twitter said "this site isn't going to die just because half of it's advertisers vanished..."
Definitely someone I would never take either financial or business advice from. No Freakin' Clue!
