I expect that many instances like that will be private for members only (#EU one also does this) since it is not actually restricting their immersion in #fediverse.
In #switzerland educational institutions are supported by #switch who I could imagine to host a service.
And I keep hoping that some federated servers will come up in #EOSC marketplace.
Can I ask what is the framework in which #EUVoice is setup as the official ActivityPub platform of EU institutions?
Even if it is not directly related to EU research and innovation agenda, maybe it can be used as an example to motivate further developments in this direction, used in grant proposals for #EU funding especially in relation to #EOSC.
Also, different NRENs and RRENs, including the pan-European R&E Network @geant for which I work have now opened Mastodon profiles (e.g. @DFN and @nordunet)
@pospi@juliaferraioli this kind of reminds me of what I heard from a panel including #eosc co-chair Karel Luyben about how Open in EOSC should not be taken as an absolute. Although I suspect his motivation was a bit different.
Not sure how much of it can be addressed with money, but some of it can. We need to find ways of sustainably funding the existing fediverse, and not just that, all the innovations we need and want in the future. Donations isn’t it. Heroic efforts by individuals who then burn out isn’t it either. Constructive suggestions?
@thisismissem@J12t@Gargron just an example we recently discussed with @hexylena and @hrhotz possibilities for sharing example and tutorial videos for #EuroScienceGateway project and maybe even #usegalaxy platform on #peertube . Of course, it would need instances and probably upstream changes. But it could be better in some ways than youtube used now.
I am not sure, so feedback from someone who tried is very helpful, but it seems like #EOSC way of doing things may link with #fediverse a bit.
