I have been massively enjoying this rerun of the radio series on @BBCRadio4 of the much missed #TerryPratchett + @neilhimself 's genius book #GoodOmens.
It's been wonderful to introduce a whole new generation to both Pratchett and Gaiman's work.
A big recommend if you haven't read/heard it.
(Have not seen TV series so can't compare to that)
📖 According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, the world will end on a Saturday. A Saturday quite soon, in fact.
The whole of our six-part adapation of @neilhimself and Terry Pratchett's wonderful 1990 fantasy Good Omens is on BBC Sounds now - and you can listen from anywhere in the world. Tell your friends, good or evil.
🏝️ Did you listen to @neilhimself's Desert Island Discs? His eight favourite records, from Bowie to Nyman to Tori Amos to, er, Gilbert & Sullivan? It's a real treat.
Anyone else slightly disappointed that @BBCRD vaunted presence here has shown zero attempt to actually distribute any news or any other content? @BBC5Live is not live, and I learned from unaffiliated sources that @BBCRadio4 has the original Good Omens radio series available for intl streaming (but not podcast! boo!)
Don't forget to stream Good Omens (Seasons 1 and 2), give them good ratings, keep sharing it across social media and support the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes to help make Season 3 happen! The writers and actors deserve a livable income and reasonable work hours/conditions, as well as the opportunity to make the high-quality art they want to share with the world 💚
I've decided to try to use Mastodon more seriously for work, rather than just for fun (great though it is for that too), so have moved to a more work-related instance. Finally given up on the birdsite, which is broken beyond repair. Looking forward to chatting about #socialsciences teaching and research, as well as general stuff (mainly #ukpolitics and #dogsofmastodon). I'm also currently obsessing over #goodomens.
Just finished watching #GoodOmens2 and I can see why folks were talking about this.
It’s not very action packed, and it is a slow burner as the topic is generally about love, relationships, and right vs wrong.
However, out of all tv shows to take this slow approach to the season, I feel #GoodOmens absolutely nails the under-the-surface drama, even if the action is lacking - with a really good twist at the end to boot!
Thank you to everyone using Content / Spoiler Warnings today. Literally everyone talking about either Strange New Worlds or Good Omens is using them - I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! 😍😍😍♥️♥️♥️
I was wondering where I knew the name of that café in #GoodOmens from, and now I've realised is that the name "give me coffee or give me death" is a slogan on every mass-print t-shirt producer's products.
Sooooo... I sat down this morning armed with cup of tea, writing banana and supervisor cats, ready to get in a solid morning's hacking away in the word mines...
“Oh, I was thinking I'd put the books in alphabetical order!”,
“by author?”,
“author? What's that? I was going with the first letter of the first sentence”
– Good Omens, season 2 #goodomens
Arvo, Toots! I had plans for today, but a migraine had plans for me. I have such an earworm from our rewatch of #GoodOmens series 1, and I’m not mad about that at all. Loving the details I missed first time through.
Did you know August is #FamilyHistory month? I’ll try to keep my wittering on about it to separate posts.
If you listened to the recent Good Omens serial, adaptated and sound-designed by Dirk Maggs from the book by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, then you'll likely enjoy this discussion between old friends and collaborators, Dirk and Neil on the topic. It took place right before the recording.
