AO3 (Archive Of Our Own)にある小説コンテンツは、パソコンでもスマホでもダウンロードしてオフラインで読めます。
As a #vidder I used to have youtube block my videos all of the time. I found that I could get around some of the blocking with a vimeo account, but no more.
Two of my videos disappeared from Vimeo this week. Probably due to copyright issues, but I didn't get an email or anything. Just a link to a page that says SORRY THIS VIDEO DOES NOT EXIST.
Do you know how demoralizing that is? To feel that another Purge is on its way.
I can recommend 2 alternatives: vidders.net is a privately run website that has been around for 10+ years. You create a free account and contact the administrator. It's whitelisted on #ArchiveOfOurOwn so you'll be able to embed your video and stream from there
The other alternative is the #InternetArchive. They too are whitelisted on #AO3 so you can embed and stream from there. Use the AO3 vid page as a central placeholder for all of your streaming sources
I would suggest you use both alternatives to maximize your streams
The final location is called CriticalCommons.org. You have to apply for an account, explaining your purpose, and when you upload your video write a short paragraph explaining it transformative nature. It's a site devoted to analyzing and discussing media culture
Heads up! Someone using the name AO3_Status_ (note the second underscore) is impersonating this account and attempting to scam AO3 users out of money. Please block and report this account. (And please note that the real donation form is currently down due to a DDoS.)
Someone has #ArchiveOfOurOwn in their sites. Probably envious that people support the resource.
It's probably intuitive, but since the reason for AO3's issues is a DDOS attack that's ongoing, we need to stay away from the site. Don't refresh to check on status, that'll make it worse. Check the AO3_status Twitter acct. There is an automatic feed over to Masto via @ao3_status. #ao3#archiveofourown#fanfic#fanfiction
Looks like AO3 is taking at least some measures against AI, but there's still room for improvement. The protections against AI need to be ramped up. Tags and an OPT-IN as a default are the barest minimum. Forcing users to OPT-OUT of allowing AI to use their works is unethical. Many users might not be aware this option exists and thus have their works scraped.
As a software developer, I'm aware that discerning an AI-generated text from a human-written text with current technology is basically impossible. As a writer, I want AI to be banned from creative spaces. AI is not creative. AI is not transformative. AI cannot think for itself. AI cannot love. AI is not a fan. I don't want a jumble of words based on stolen intellectual property alongside works people poured all their heart and soul into.
I'm so enraged because AO3 doesn't take a clear stance against AI scraping their users' works without consent. Their post implies they don't mind opening the gates to AI, which will end up in our works being exploited by companies for profit as it's cheaper than paying professional writers. This is plagiarism. For me as a user who entrusts AO3 with keeping my works safe, this is a huge slap in the face.
I do not consent to AI using my intellectual property (into which I poured all my heart and soul and which I'm not allowed to monetise) to create soulless works that ultimately will make other writers redundant/paid even less than they already earn while some companies get even richer.
I'm glad I haven't yet donated to AO3. I don't support this new level of enshittification. There's nothing transformative about AI-created "art".
heads up:
Now both Izzy #HowToBreatheUnderwater and Hetty #204NoContent are up in full for download, a short hiatus until Wednesday for the next story.
My first completed novel from a few year's back, still one of my finest teen works, and now available chapter by chapter (adding one every day this week, then probably every other day) on An Archive of Our Own. #AO3#ArchiveofOurOwn#HowToBreatheUnderwater #MiddleGrade#fantasy
