My plans of becoming an elegant yet deadly assassin are continuing apace-- I learnt last week that the venue that hosts my #ScottishCountryDance class also does #HEMA swordfighting directly beforehand. So this week I turned up for both!
I haven't wielded a sword in about a decade and a half, and I dropped in on the last week of a course, so I was a little scared of embarrassing myself. Especially turning up in skirt and tights when everyone else was in camo trousers and the like! But the movements jumped straight back into my brain. 💃🗡️
I guess Sword Lesbian was always my destiny. :heart_lesbian:
WHAT THE HELL(?)
I mean, when and where else am I gonna post this, really. My modelling career: one day long. As long as this will stay on my feed. From a flyer of Dutch department store the HEMA in the early 2000s.
Well wishes to all my Fedipals for the holidays and the coming new year. You're the best! #HEMA#IWannaWannaBeAMaleModel
I tried fencing in school, the sword kind. I was soon disavowed of a few myths. You cannot simply hack the limbs off your opponent, nor do you automatically get a dashing facial scar.
Well, you can imagine my disappointment
Had a little fun with one of my larger swords tonight.
Seen a YouTube short from one of the HEMA guys I follow tonight talking about conditioning by holding the sword extended - a bit like planking with your arm.
I hadn’t done it in a while so I thought I’d try a minute to see. Made that easily so thought I’d see if I could make it for a four minute song…
😂
First part of a new long term home project coming in. An #Ubiquiti PoE+ switch to power a small #Kubernetes cluster built using #raspberrypi nodes. Going to blog about every step once it has been completed. But it is going to be a few quarters long project doing bit by bit
#SideroLabs One of the things that is always important with computers is cooling them. So as such, I have a fan from #hema to cool the nodes. And right now it is always on, but I already connected a #shelly_IoT plug to be able to only turn it on when the nodes get hot enough that they need
Next up getting each node it's own fan instead of using those #hema that @erikaheidi showed cased a year ago on nodes to cool them down. They need some cleaning once in a while tho.
This was spontaneous recorded when I had some friends over for my birthday. The weather was very cold and cloudy but I really wanted to give my new camera a try and create some slow motion footage with the 200 FPS mode.
I also decided to utilise my dashcam for a second angle. That turned out surprisingly well and I’ll probably use a similiar setup again.
We had a lot of trouble with the cold. The water froze immediately. Even on the blade. That totally ruined the balance. It’s save to assume that people back then had the same trouble while fighting in the wintertime. We had to bring the sword inside for proper cleaning as the ice kept forming on the blade.
