@kiwipycon If you're at #Pyconus and want to be personally encouraged or want to share a few talk ideas with another human being, please find me! I'd love to see you at #Kiwipycon !
We have a wonderful pipeline of Linux Australia-auspiced events coming up for the back half of 2024, after fantastic conferences earlier in the year by the teams at #DrupalSouth in #Sydney and @everythingopen in #Gladstone
We're absolutely delighted to announce Deb Nicholson (@baconandcoconut) will be joining us at Kiwi PyCon XIII in Wellington this August as one of our two keynote speakers!
Tickets are on sale and the CFP is accepting submissions until 23 May!
We are delighted to announce our first keynote speaker for #KiwiPyCon XIII: Dr Russell Keith-Magee (@freakboy3742)! Founder of @beeware and former president of the @django Software Foundation.

"Why sort you python imports? To avoid git conflicts on new additions."
While correct, I feel it deeper than that.
Unsorted pieces of code really "feel" wrong to me. I'd almost go as far as saying it causes mental pain. I even sort dependencies in pyproject.toml or lists in code (if I can).
Saw a photo of #KiwiPyCon where pretty much everyone (at least attendees) were masked. Went to their website and found their #Covid policy. I don't have a lot of experience with conferences and their organisation, but this seems real good. https://kiwipycon.nz/covid-19
I know a lot of people can't do conferences anymore and that's tough. Encourage your conference organisers to go in this direction. It's possible and some people are still trying to keep others safe and included.
My Journey to #kiwipycon begins today. Taking a nice tiki tour through central Otago for a couple of days before arriving in Waihōpai Invercargill on Sunday.
I just remembered that there's a whole 15-minute section of outtakes from my #KiwiPyCon keynote that might actually make a decent stand-alone talk, and I saved the slides instead of deleting them 🤔
Reminded that it's both #Eurovision weekend, and the new #Zelda game is out tomorrow… which means I had really better get to work on my @pyconau, @djangocon, @conservancy#FOSSY, and #KiwiPyCon proposals today.
(And everyone else, you should work on your @northbaypython proposals before you get irretrievably distracted too!)
