The backside and the bottom of the bag. As I said the back has a “tunnel” on the top to run the strap through and rings on the bottom for the backpack function. The sleeve is the large “pocket” in the middle. The bottom was a challenge but I love the look and it makes the bag stand nicely. #Leathercraft
It’s done! I still need to do handles (missing hardware 🤦🏻♀️) and a long strap to carry it crossbody or as a backpack. Sides have pockets and the back has a sleeve to slide over a rolling suitcase and backpack rings. #Leathercraft
Several people have asked for wallets with more card pockets. So here comes a prototype, with 6 pockets, should hold 12 cards, plus 2 back pockets accessible via the centre slot, made from chrome tanned leather, to be saddle stitched using 2 needles so thread can never, ever unravel.
Yet another ordered card wallet completed from chrome tanned leather, saddle stitched (2 needles). Saddle stitching by hand never will unravel like on tshirts and underwear. Slow to do by hand, but in my opinion, is the best way.
I'm getting back into bookbinding. Now that I have a spiffy hot foil imprint machine I can make impressive leather bindings. (Book making is an excuse I gave myself to justify the cost of the imprinting machine.) Finished this metal detector resistant liquor flask for concerts and sporting events, etc. The interior is BPA free, leak proof heavy duty plastic. The exterior is 100% leather and has no metal parts to set off a detector. Design needs a little tweaking but it's almost there. #diy#maker#LeatherCraft#handmade
My friend, Cal, couldn't find any "professionals" willing to repair his grandfather's belt, which he cherishes. I'm sure they were afraid because it's in such sorry condition.
In the center you can see how bad the condition was. I had to cut off the buckle end to replace the snap so he can use it. It's revived with some dye and mink oil, much better than before, but it's still a century old so, after repairing it, I will surprise him by making a new, identical belt for everyday wear. #Leather
I've finished my friend's belt. It looks redder in the sunlight than it generally appears. This belt is meant to be an everyday wear in order to preserve his grandfather's belt. He can replace the buckle if he chooses. He has a large collection of belt buckles. I got tired of my cocktail smoking kit rattling around in a box so I made a custom leather case for it. I was even able to #repurpose some dense packing foam to make the insert.
