So....I keep thinking about this Sharkey migration and as I see it, I have 2 options:
Attempt to re-migrate to beaware.live (my main domain) even though I briefly already had an instance there and risk potential federation issues.
Migrate to beaware.social (new domain) and redirect beaware.live to it which shouldn't cause issues.
In all honesty, if I could be almost positive I could do the first option with little or no federation issues, I'd rather go that route. BUT, if I can't get a definitive answer on if that would work or not, the second option is always there....any advice?
"Omg... Joe Biden is the 1st President posting in the Fediverse"
No, Joe Biden is using mainstream social media, owned by Meta (Facebook), which most of the Fediverse blocked a while back. If POTUS (President of the United States) wants to join the Fediverse correctly and hold that claim, they need to join a true Fediverse instance such as Misskey, Sharkey, Mastodon, or something else not government a large corporation which avoid paying taxes.
Hello there! If you are on #Iceshrimp, #Firefish or #Sharkey, there's a new security patch out so your server admin should update the software immediately. #Catodon has also merged the patch from upstream #Iceshrimp and catodon.social has been updated :catodon:
After looking at some of the source code in #Sharkey's implementation of #MFM, I discovered the details of the $[border decoration.
It accepts a width property for how thick the border should be (don't specify units)
There's a radius property for corner roundness (don't specify units)
You can specify a color with a 3, 4, or 6 digit hex code (don't put a hash sign first)
You can specify style where the options are ['hidden', 'dotted', 'dashed', 'solid', 'double', 'groove', 'ridge', 'inset', 'outset'] with a default of solid if you try to put in something else.
The noclip keyword doesn't have any properties. If you don't say noclip then it will add overflow:clip to the border which hides stuff inside it if it doesn't fit.
I need to figure out how to disable the "Warning: this post may annoy others" pop up from #Sharkey. That's like half of why I'm here in the first place.
Back when my naive self started Fedi, I went with the most known software (mastodon). But after months of dev incompetence, it's obviously not where I want to be, but I like my domain....
I guess I'm basically stuck with all these bad UI updates and no moderation features....😬🤦♂️
So....I want to migrate from Mastodon to Sharkey. The catch is, I would LIKE to end up back on my current domain....is this possible at all?
I have a domain I could park a Sharkey instance to migrate to, but if I make a new Sharkey instance on my current domain after I shut the Mastodon instance down, will I be able to migrate back with little issue?🤔
Does anyone know why I can upload files fine in Sharkey, I can see in the bucket they appear and through its interface I can download and look at them, all works well. But Sharkey itself can’t load the images! They show up as very blurry things, with correct:ish colors, somehow, but with “This image cannot be loaded” errors..
When digging around #Sharkey, I learned that one of the new features we gained compared to Firefish is avatar decorations (though none are currently enabled on our instance).
It's a feature import from Misskey so some of the details are half-baked (no resizing; poor federation) but it's free. I wouldn't have to buy @Kitty a copy of Stardew Valley every time I wanted a new one.
@apps What about the development of #Fedilab towards a support of #Firefish that was announced a while ago? Or even #Sharkey as an alternative to Firefish?
I would love to use Fedilab again after switching the server to Sharkey a few weeks ago. It was and is still simply the best app I know for the Fediverse. Imho.
@apps
Until a few weeks ago, #Fedilab also worked with #Sharkey, but unfortunately not since then. At least not with the federation.network instance where I'm based. I don't know exactly what the problem is — the app, the server, the API... In any case, posts are no longer displayed in the timelines (see screenshot) @daniel
There's an annoying bug in #Sharkey and it is that if you're in the beautifully gorgeous deck mode and hit F5, it takes you back to single-column layout whenever you're anywhere else than the root URL.
Soeben das Upgrade auf #Firefish 20240326 eingespielt. Und in der Tat, diese Version hat jetzt Mastodon API, dh der Zugriff ist über ein App möglich (zB #Fedilab).
