Hello I'm Salix and am making a new account on this same instance. I am from the #shenandoah valley in #appalachia Virginia.
I am into all sorts of art, books, writing, music, TTRPGs, nature, and photography. I play the trumpet and am learning guitar, and I have a strong distaste for how much we rely on cars, and cars in general.
I'll probably post art, ideas and stuff on TTRPGs, photos, and whatever else I feel like at the time.
It's mid-November and here in VA most of the color has left the leaves, but here's a bit of color from a few years ago. This is from the grove of trees at mile marker 8 in Shenandoah.
I’ve spent ten years building up the riparian buffer on my side of the river. Then some guy cuts down all the trees on the other bank. 😠 #forest#Shenandoah
It's a beautiful fall day here in Virginia, and the Capital Weather Gang has declared peak foliage. I assume that means Shenandoah's entrances are all backed up with leaf peepers and hikers. Hope you're all having a good Saturday, whether you're at home or just hanging out like this guy.
It's #Wednesday, so that must mean it's #WaterfallWednesday! This autumnal delight is from the Rose River Loop in Shenandoah. It's the best spot in the park on a cloudy or foggy day!
The nights are getting cooler and the days can be reasonably described as "crisp", so I'm thinking about hiking in Shenandoah and fall foliage. In that spirit, here's an old shot from one of my favorite spots on Skyline Drive. Fall skies are the best skies, right?
There is little in life more magical than a colorful sunset in the mountains on a warm #summer's evening. Where better to view this than the historic Harpers Ferry area nestled in the #BlueRidgeMountains where the #Potomac and #Shenandoah Rivers converge.
