As smoke from unprecedented wildfires engulfs large parts of the East Coast, it is a good time to remember these words from indigenous scholar-activist Jack D. Forbes:
A low-cost, accessible, and effective air cleaner, the #CorsiRosenthal box is now being used as an open-source approach for reducing exposure to #wildfire smoke
Is your air quality #trash because of #ForestFires or #smog ? You might (absolutely) want to wear a #mask outside but what about your #dog ? Introducing Doggy Respirator 2000. It's made of a soft muzzle and two masks. I used a couple of blue ones because my N95 were thiiickkk. I cut them flat and fused the edges together with one of those mini bag sealers. Crap job but I'm too lazy for the sewing machine today. Version 2 will be N95 and a nicer look. Yay!
My friend @richSimcox made this nice video juxtaposing orange protest paint on a snooker table, and orange air in a city, with a soundtrack of someone's response to one or the other of those events.
Can you tell which they were responding to?
I liked it.
Which will get more engagement? My re-post here, or his on the site where the algorithm suppresses the kind of memes that it's owner doesn't like?
Just great, first the super typhoon and now this 😔 And that is NOT a "slight increase".
"#Phivolcs also observed a slight increase in #SulfurDioxide emissions in the past two weeks. From an average of less than 3,000 tons per day between April 1 and May 21, the average rose to 5,360 tons per day between May 22 and June 1." #Philippines#Volcanoes
"#MANILA, #Philippines – Residents of the municipalities of Balete, Laurel, and Agoncillo in #Batangas province reported volcanic smog or #vog on Sunday morning, June 4, coming from Taal Volcano.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (#Phivolcs) said in a Sunday afternoon advisory that the vog was due to the #volcano’s 'increased and continuous degassing' or emission of gas."
