Un magnétophone à quatre pistes est utilisé pour l'enregistrement, ils utilisent principalement trois pistes, basse et batterie sur une, la guitare et l'orgue sur la seconde et les voix de Morrison sur la troisième piste. La quatrième piste est utilisée pour le montage/mixage.

Still, the band delivers a visceral antiwar mini opera in "The Unknown Soldier," Robbie Krieger's finest flamenco on "Spanish Caravan," and Morrison's lizard king shtick in full slither on "Not to Touch the Earth" and a brief but intense "Five to One."
