On this day in 2002, Tina Turner's hometown of Nutbush, Tennessee named a stretch of State Highway 19 the ‘Tina Turner Highway’, in honour of her song ‘Nutbush City Limits’. Turner lived in Nutbush, until she was 17.
“In 1969, while staying at the Fort Worther Motel in Fort Worth, Texas, Jennings was inspired to start writing the song when he saw advertising on a newspaper promoting Tina Turner as a "good hearted woman loving a two-timing man", a reference to Ike Turner.”

Let the memory of Tina Turner be a blessing and a beacon to all those, especially women, who need to get the fuck out of an abusive relationship to find their higher selves.
