I don't think we all appreciate how #Ivory normalized #Mastodon usage for many of us #Tweetbot users. It also has sparked innovation for other great app development. So great to have choices.
@ivory Hey Ivory, I'm a former #Tweetbot customer and bought every app you guys offered for Twitter back in the day.
Since switching to subscriptions, you guys (PITY) don't see a dime from me anymore. I really like your apps and Tweetbot has been with me for a long time. Do you have to go with the flow and jump on the subscription bandwagon? Is there no option for customers like me to buy Ivory for version 1 permanently?
Please return one-time purchases or offer them as an additional option.
Like a lot of people, I spent the weekend checking out #Threads. But, since I never actually set up my #Instagram account, I kinda had to build out a social graph there first. I also accidentally synced a new profile picture over to #Facebook, which created a post, so I had to go say “hi” there for the first time in years.
A chronological timeline of just people I follow is table stakes for me to use a social app. Which is why #Tweetbot was great, and the official app was less so.
It’s a given Meta will similarly always want to push celebs and influencers. If the fediverse becomes just a 3rd party API for Threads, in a narrow view, that’s not the worst thing.
I’m optimistic we can keep the things that are great and unique from here, while letting in just enough to make things interesting.
Recently we've had a lot of show of solidarity for some developers have been messed around by large companies. Particularly in apps like #Apollo and #Tweetbot. But there are other developers out there from small companies that have made apps or utilities we rely upon to make our lives easier or more pleasant.
I'd like to use this thread and hashtag to show support for those developers who thankfully haven't had massive media attention. Add some of your favourite developers and utilities that you support here.
I bought a #WinRAR license back in 2004 and have been enjoying using the app ever since. I use it much less these days than I did back then, but it's been handling my compression needs flawlessly since I started using it. So #Thanks to RARLabs for consistently maintaining a useful product that does something specific, does it well, and hasn't been bundled up into a bigger suite of apps that invade my privacy or install a bunch of crap on my computer.
I've been going back and forth on whether to get an #ivory subscription or stick with #mammoth on my iPhone.
Honestly quite impressed with Mammoth considering it's a free app - and more customizable than Ivory from what I can tell. But I do like the idea of supporting the #tweetbot devs.
Andrew Logan @byandrewlogan tells the saga of two of our favorite immigrants, #Tapbots' Paul Haddad @paul and Mark Jardine @mark. How Elon murdered #Tweetbot, and it was resurrected as Ivory on Mastodon.
💔Sorry #Twitter, but Mastodon has stolen my heart.
No more regrets, no more noise, and goodbye to sponsored tweets, click baits, and Elon Musk's shenanigans!
It's only been 7 months, but #Mastodon has become my happy place.
Do you feel the same, or do you still crave a Twitter fix now and then?
@hobbitswife#IceCubesApp is one of the best mastodon clients out there. I’ve tried @ivory initially and while it is an outstanding app, its layout reminds me too much of #Tweetbot and I like how refreshing UI in @IceCubesApp is. Plus I do appreciate #FOSS projects and how amazing open source apps can become.
@dell Ivory is really well done especially for someone who used #TweetBot for years, but Icecubes is definitely worth a try as a free #OpenSouce#SwiftUI app that has some really interesting features like a #ChatGPT integration.
Elon Musk is threatening to end his $44 billion agreement to buy Twitter, accusing the company of refusing to give him information about its spam bot accounts.
Tweetbot, Twiterrific, Echofon, and other third-party Twitter clients have failed to work for many people since late last night, and the social network has seemingly not notified the apps' developers as to why.
