“Americans are drinking less, and younger Americans are drinking the least. 62% of adults under 35 drink, down from 72% two decades ago, and Gen Z drinks the least of any demographic. ”
The wife and I ordered some banana pudding cream moonshine and some pickled flavor moonshine and it finally arrived today.
Verdict on both:
anana Pudding Cream Moonshine: Very good taste! Tastes just like a banana pudding would taste, with a decent hint of moonshine taste/flavor. Aftertaste is definitely more banana pudding and a sweetness.
Pickle Moonshine: Taste just like pickle juice, nothing else. Can't even really taste the moonshine part of it.
Asahi Beer says that it’ll limit the amount of alcohol in its canned chuhai (flavored shochu drinks) to 8%. Medical professionals have been speaking out against the prevalence of “strong” chuhai drinks like Strong Zero with 9% alcohol, calling them a health risk.
@harrysintonen Maybe this will be the final straw that breaks the alcohol monopoly?
Depending on a single payment system for all government controlled alcohol dispensaries. Now that's a "real issue" that may get politicians to change their minds when the "juice" dries up... :KEKW: #systembolaget#Sweden#monopoly#alcohol#ransomware
Today in Writing History January 19, 1809: Edgar Allan Poe was born. “The Raven” made Poe an overnight sensation. Yet, he spent much of his life in poverty. Poe originally considered having an owl or parrot, rather than a raven, quote “Nevermore.” Poe was a binge drinker who sometimes remained sober for months before falling off the wagon again. His alcoholism worsened as he got older. He died in 1849, mostly likely from alcoholism. His grave remained unmarked until 1865. For 60 years, from 1949 until 2009, the “Poe Toaster” left a bottle of cognac and three roses on Poe’s grave every January 19th.
In 2020, Drizly disclosed that it was affected by a data breach that affected 2.5 million customers. Last year, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) ordered Drizly to delete all personal data that wasn’t required to provide service. Plus, it asked the alcohol delivery service and CEO James Cory to implement a robust security program.
#Tobacco and #alcohol are similarly harmful (middling) in comparison to other drugs, and similarly habit-forming (highly). Yet Western society treats them really differently. In recent decades we've managed to change attitudes to tobacco and cut down use, both quite dramatically, without banning the sale of tobacco. But there is no political will to do likewise with alcohol, even though unlike tobacco it is a strongly contributing factor to violent crime and homelessness.
Not sure if this is true, personally opposed to banning #alcohol, but maybe the arguments for #Prohibition are stronger than I thought...
