Found this on aliexpress...I know it's incredibly likely to be a scam, you can literally see the change in grain of the card around the text when you switch between different filetypes, but...I'm just curious. The reviews are mostly confused saying it's authentic, but with the occasional one saying that it gives errors around filesize...hmmmmm. I think you know what I'm thinking.

But even if it's fake...I kinda want it. Just for the sake of curiousity.

I’d like to read more about how these companies afford to have products shipped by air that are below the costs of others. Are they just burning cash and will burn out soon enough, or is this a really big problem (environmentally and for cargo) long term? https://cosocial.ca/@timbray/111970279833364431

The whole project was fuelled by initally finding really cheap DC-to-PD modules on (links below).

And for cheap but powerful power supplies, there was basically only one logical choice: Used server power supplies.
The ones are pretty nice and modding-friendly.

JFF, I did a basic mockup of how the modules and PSUs could fit together.

It was too stupid and cheap to not give it a shot :P

Apparently, , et al. started locking down phones from use because they were bought on and not on the "official" Samsung Store.

This is highly alarming for two reasons.

  1. They can do it. They have the possibility of reaching into your phone and basically locking it, holding your and probably everything else on there ransom (including passwords, cookies, logins etc.). I don't think I need to tell you how worrying this is. Imagine your phone is a second factor for online banking. LOL

  2. They thought this was a defensible, maybe even good idea. Shows how these companies don't give a shit about consumers, environment or anything else they claim to care for which isn't their line going up. With the industrial landscape acting like this, we might as well flush the future of this society and planet down the toilet. They clearly show us time and time again that all they want is money.

I hate the recent developments in big tech with a passion... and I'm more and more cutting off my data and infrastructure from their grasp (as much as possible, that is). It's not just Samsung. Microsoft, Google, Apple...all of them have gone full on greed mode in a way that would make people in the 80s resign in shame. Fuck . And if you work for them, fuck you too, honestly. You're suborning this shit. You're actively making the world WORSE.
