For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.

From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.

Aha, thank you. I see the work-around will be to always have an open window on my screen playing #Netflix 😂

Thinking about attempting to code an service as a learning project, and to perhaps solve the social lock-in issue of gaming platform profiles that really pisses me off. 🤔

I really really don't like , however I'm way too attached to my almost 20 year old profile and like to do video game achievements. Having a unified, federated profile that pulls its data from all the different sources (Steam, PSN, Xbox, RetroAchievements.org and especially GOG) would be neat.

DRM ruins efforts at historical preservation. If all of our media is locked up in digital streaming platforms -- which will go under eventually -- how will it be preserved for future generations? Live DRM-free instead: https://u.fsf.org/1aj

What if any Fediverse instance's make this DRM that Facebook has, with posts being locked for users not signed in. This can help with those who are scared of AI “taking over” because let's be real, AI just grabs the information you post online. If we do this, would AI “die”?

I don't personally care so to speak, as AI will not care, or sorry, these companies developing the AI LLM's will counter new strategies to obtain PII from websites.
