Deciding yo do a non item-farming run of #Fallout 4 has brought... virtually no difference in challenge.
Basically the best guaranteed legendary items are good enough that I have come to realize farmed items is just completely unnecessary. They are just pure overkill.

I am 100% sure (headcanon, but barely) that Dogmeat is a mythical personality just like the Mysterious Stranger.
Mama Murphy talks about him as a wandering soul that shows up to help those he deems worthy, Nick knows him already, he just... "shows up" to help the protagonist, and there has been a dog named "Dogmeat" in almost all the games.
