No dobra, mam już komputer, który nie jest na wyngiel, więc czas wreszcie zagrać w Disco Elysium.
(Tak, wiem, kiepski ze mnie lewak i fan cRPGów, że jeszcze w to nie grałem...) #DiscoElysium#giereczkowo#gry#cRPG
playing through Mass Effect 1 the last few days. Man, that game feels somewhat badly designed. It feels like it wants to be both a #crpg and a shooter, and it doesn't quite pull it off.
Also the Legendary Edition I am playing has so many spots that are too dark to see it feels like walking through the game blind at points. If I have to use the map to find the exit of the room there's definitely something wrong.
In #crpg#gamedev, what is actually the purpose of the player's character advancing stats through XP or skill increases?
It's expected if an RPG and player enjoy the Ding!, but advancement could just as well be achieved through better equipment and gaining new special abilities. Which is much more flexible as you can try out other playstyles by changing your gear, without stretching the disbelieve like letting characters undo their growth and respec their stats.
There seems to be some consensus among #crpg design enthusiasts that the best open-world RPGs are Morrowind and Gothic. Both of which are over 22 years old now.
By this point, I believe many of the writing about Morrowind and Gothic having the best open-world design were not even born when they came out.
I love a lot of RPGs but I think honestly only one has made me actually want to visit the world it is set in: Assassins Creed Odyssey (and yes, it is a proper RPG, one of the reasons it is shunned in the r/AssassinsCreed subreddit).
Admittedly I have always been very fascinated by Classical and Ancient Greek history and the whole Mediterranean area pre-Rome, but also that game is still in 2024 gorgeous as heck.
Casting Darkness with the Devil's Sight is basically cheating. You're basically Daredevil in a dark corridor fight scene. Enemies can't detect you or even AoE you.
I don't think Karlach "has golden retriever energy". She's more of a border terrier: Goofy, full of energy but gentle, and will face a badger head on in an enclosed space without a blink of an eye.
Hello #gamedev#indiedev people. I decided it's not too late in life to start picking up creating a little Iso-RPG as an after work hobby with nearly zero background and experience. No interest at all to make a career out of it, just entirely for my own fun and share my creative ideas with others.
Knowing basically nothing, are there any places you'd recommend to hang out at for finding some early footing?
Tonight's Big Think: Somebody should mod Daggerfall Unity so that it can be played as a full-featured Farming Sim. Or as a wandering trader. I would love to see a fantasy/RPG game with legit non-violent playthrough options!
A very early #crpg version of #dnd that can not be played anymore because of mismatching BASIC versions (players will only lose experience instead of gaining it)
Fired up Might and Magic 6 again. This is almost certainly not the best use of my gaming time, given how many other objectively better games I have in my library.
It's fun remembering how to abuse the alchemy system to power up my party's stats, and plotting character progression. There's plenty to like. But at the same time it gets genuinely tedious clearing out the ridiculous hordes of enemies that appear practically everywhere.
Well, I am fully and certifiably addicted to JRPGs. It was only a matter of time. Anyways, what is ya’lls favorite in the genre? Any forgotten classics/hidden gems/diamonds in the rough I may not be aware of? My favorites are: Final Fantasy IV(obsessed with this game, can’t believe I almost skipped right to FFVI 😳) Final Fantasy I, Earthbound, Pokémon Red/Blue/Gold/Silver.
The first three Dragon Quests are on Switch, maybe I’ll give those a shot? Idk, any help would be appreciated!
