Tarnished be like "I know a spot" and it's a cliff in Caelid from where you can see Radahn's soldiers fight Monstrous Dog and loot runes while enjoying the view #EldenRing#Caelid#Watercolor#FromSoftware
Wrote a light analysis piece on Risk v. Reward (Trade-off) Mechanics in #videogames .
I examine how different genres such as #survivalhorror#rts and #strategy , as well as how titles like Ori and the Blind Forest and those by #FromSoftware utilize this mechanic either effectively or to their detriment.
I’ve played two hours of #Steelrising and so far I’m very pleased. I like the setting better than expected, it’s a nice change from the usual fantasy. If you’ve played #Soulslikes before, you know exactly what to do. The engine feels good, not as hyper-responsive as #FromSoftware’s, but snappier than some other games. — #ShareYourGames#Gaming
This sums up really well why it's so difficult to go back to playing other AA/AAA games after #fromsoftware games. I'm feeling this a lot in #AlanWake2 right now as well
This is where "indie" games ultimately end up providing a more enjoyable experience than AAA games - they have to remain hyper focused on the quality of the core gameplay loop and use it as the primary mechanism for storytelling
Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon is like a childhood dream come true. I used to fantasize about a game that looked and played this good with the focus on mechs and combat. No love story, No bullshit, just giant robots fighting. Fantastic.
I bought #EldenRing on release but never really got into it. I tried, but after 12 hours, and most of Limgrave, I moved on.
One of my favourite let’s play channels #RKG (formerly #IGN’s Prepare to Try) just started their Elden Ring series and I jumped back in. I finally beat Margit.
I don’t know if I’ll stick with it, and it’s also a real time sink, so we’ll see.
