Alright experts, can anyone tell me why a call to dbg! would change the behaviour of an application?

Adding a dbg! call here fixes a bug, removing it reintroduces the bug - this happens in release builds too

I have no idea

I have been waiting to upgrade my 38" LG Ultrawide for years to something with a higher resolution than the 3840x1600 it sports.

This week, Dell dropped a new 40” 5k2k 120hz Thunderbolt 4 equipped monitor. I insta-ordered and have been using it for the last 2 days. The official model is “Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor - U4025QW”.

I am absolutely delighted with it.

The image quality is such a nice step up from the LG. It has a passthrough Thunderbolt port so can act as a hub which is insanely useful for my 10gig SFP+ needs. It's also got HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, internal power supply (no brick! yay!), a 2.5GbE port, and a built-in KVM (which I haven't dug into yet).

It really might be all the monitor I need for the next 5-10 years. My LG served me well for the last 7 so until resolutions double I think this is it!

When working with non-declarative distros every interaction with the system feels like rolling the dice with ChatGPT hallucinations that have a system-wide blast radius

I wonder if the “Right to Repair” laws will extend to software. At some point, software gets abandoned, and maybe codebases should be made OSS after a certain period.

This will become more critical as vehicles are more integrated with software and services that will one day shut down.

@khalidabuhakmeh I think that proprietary game servers are a good area this can be implemented; if a company shuts down online play servers they should open source them so community servers can continue to be operated
