@ivory Hey, Any plans to have account muting reworked so it syncs both ways?
As far as I can tell you do respect mutes that I have enabled on my instance/web but mutes that I enable in Ivory is not synced back to my instance. Kind of annoying having to bookmark accounts I want to mute and then open up my home instance in a browser and mute the account that way to be certain the mute works.
My yearly subscription for my preferred Mastodon client @ivory lapsed the other day, so I gave Ice Cubes another whirl. Nope. There are a few thing it has that I wish were in Ivory but it’s just not as smooth, like there’s a lag to a lot of the actions of a few seconds. No disrespect to the Ice Cubes devs, it’s a good app for the most part but Ivory is so smooth. If I’m not on the website it really is the best way for me to interact with Mastodon.
Seeing something strange in the latest @ivory for the mac.
I had 3 columns ( home, explore, hashtags).
Now when I open I have home, home, hashtags.
I cannot get the middle column back to explore.
Maybe this isn’t new, I don’t look at Apple’s App Store much. But having the Ivory mastodon client in the list of essential social apps seems pretty great.
One feature I miss from #Twitter is explanations for ongoing trends on the platform. It saved me the research step to know what chronically online quirk is now “it” and avoids misunderstanding one thing for another.
It was nice for quickly getting an overview of a currently discussed topic before going through a wall of posts and not understanding anything which really helped with my #ADHD.
Because there are no ways to migrate posts between #Mastodon instances and because my favorite Mastodon clients don’t seem to work (well) with other fedi software, I’ve dropped the idea of migrating.
I’m still not dead set on which client I prefer more: #IceCubesApp or #IvoryApp. Each have their pros and cons in different areas. While Ivory is a lot more stable in my experience, IceCubes is the far more complete app.
Wish IceCubes dropped updates less often & instead focused (more) on polish.
Woah, does @ivory not push muted accounts to the server?
Why does the filters page only have the four people on I’ve muted since switching apps, and none of the keyword filters? Checking the server and where is that account I used to follow but muted so I know it should be there (and I saw it in the app)?
Question on @ivory should I get notification badges on both iPhone and Mac? I presume so but no matter how I change the settings I get no badge count on the Mac?
If you’re new to #Mastodon and an #iOS, I highly Highly HIGHLY recommend the #IvoryApp. The app is built by @ivory, who built the arguably best #Twitter app and used their expertise to do the same for Masto.
For a little money, it is a fantastic app that’s intuitive, easy to use, and supports most if not all Masto features (I have not checked exhaustively, but all significant features seem to be supported).
⭐️⭐️⭐️ My favorite feature is the ability remove someone from your home timeline after adding them to a list. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
For example, I have a #Politics list that I check to keep up as the world burns. Every member of this list is hidden from my home timeline so if I need a break from the conflagration, I just avoid the list. This doesn’t stop other accounts I follow from posting #USPol or other #political news, of course, but it helps to compartmentalize.
