Studio Update: A few weeks ago I was soliciting opinions about whether or not to get a Mac Mini to replace my ailing, nearly decade-old PC.
Opinions differed, leaning toward "yes but get more RAM than base model" and I had just about decided not to do it when I stumbled on a good video from a music tech vlogger I really like (video here: https://youtu.be/obkCMxaIIFM) who did exactly what I was thinking and had great results.
I didn't get to test it quite as thoroughly as I'd hoped but preliminary testing was incredibly positive. It runs #Ableton Live Suite 11 without a hitch, as well as #Pigments and the #Korg#Wavestation plugin, which is pretty much my entire computer setup.
(Note: I went #DAWlessright around the time Live 11 was released, and while my old computer's inability to run Live 11 well wasn't the reason why, it didn't exactly push me to stick with the DAW-based world.)
I had intended to raise the cost of Metaphysical Shitposting to my normal full-album cost of $7 when I released the 8th track, but then ... I forgot. LOL. I also intended to let people know before I did it, so they could still sneak in for the $5 price. So, anyway, next time I add a track, it'll go to $7, but for now it's still $5! So go grab it!
Or just give it a listen. Honestly, that's just as nice for me. Or nearly so 😉
Was feeling defeated and shitty tonight so I decided to fire up the #Korg#opsix for a quick play around before making dinner. For reasons, some good and some kinda dumb, I actually haven't used it in like a year... And goddamn was that a mistake.
I LOVE that synth.
It's the best FM synth I've ever played, and I love FM synthesis. It's also way, way more than that, but even if you never touch any of the "extra" stuff, I cannot recommend it highly enough if you're in the market for a synth.
#Korg, Korg and more Korg this week as I play for you, the sounds from #Triton Extreme and #Wavestate Native for three and a half hours.
No need to keep your eyes on the screen as with any of my videos, it's all about the #audio aspect.
Sit back, relax, put on your favourite cans or turn up your favourite speakers and listen to the sounds on-offer, all from the comfort of your home, car, commute to work or wherever else you might happen to be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJeYJEctr5Q

#LoopShare is a handy hashtag to search musical ideas born of a loop (or loops) with little/no serious development.
This little gem began life as a 4-bar loop performed on the #CS-30 and blossomed into a simple Giallo love scene theme. (sense of ironic humor required)
If you're interested in working with the raw loop material yourself, just give me a shout.
Cherry Audio has been making some of my fave VST #synthesizer plugins/standalones for a few years now based on sound quality, interface/control and especially PRICE. I have four of them, my fave being their Juno 106. Their newest is based on the super-rare #Korg PS-3300 semi-modular. https://cherryaudio.com/products/ps-3300
Once again, to the zel early days, but this time, even though its short, this tune really set the stage for what was to come later. In this piece, I've worked out how to create a macro in zel so that I can give it 4 notes, and... Boom! 32-notes come back! That's right, my first arpeggiator. Apparently though I didn't have a good title this time around, it just got called, remixing. Once again, rendered and composed for the #Yamaha#S-YXG50 #Softsynth
Two for the price of one! Here's a recent remaster of that same piece using sounds from #AirMusicTech, #Korg and #NativeInstruments. The bells now have more definition, and a bit of flanger, too! The bass is now a software version of the (im)famous #TX81Z lately bass. And it now has a much better title. "Arphy is born! Arphy being a portmanteau of Arp, and arfy. I believe @Onj came up with that one!
Look at that, a new version of the opsix! So I guess it isn't discontinued! Kind of great news all around: new one doesn't have anything that makes me want to upgrade, but it's available for people who missed out on the original (which is maybe available again? or will be?) and in high-quality keyboard form for those who care about that (I actually prefer fewer keys/smaller size). Anyway, here's a BoBeats vid about it:
@etherdiver that may have been different at other times, but to me, korg.com currently shows it on the (mobile) front page. Quite a way down, far below the "SE" and the software version, but it's not exactly hidden.
The desktop site also lists it under "Products -> Synthesizers/Keyboards", not too far down. So not sure why that rumour started. #opsix#korg#opsix
