This year’s State of the Map conference will feature OSM Science 2024, the 7th edition of the Academic Track of State of the Map – a full day of sessions dedicated to academic research about, and with, OpenStreetMap. Authors are invited to submit abstracts (800-1200 words in plain text, without figures) using the OSM Science 2024 Pretalx submission system by 10 May 2024
OSM users with Android phones: What camera app do you use for geotagged photos? The stock Pixel camera does not update GPS location often enough to be useful. Some of my photos have the exact same coordinates in the metadata, despite being taken 100+ meters apart.
It is an #OpenStreetMap based service to find #vegan (and #vegetarian) restaurants, in other words an open alternative to #HappyCow (except for the review functionality).

Je découvre l’app #iOS#Android « Staying Alive », permettant notamment d’avoir connaissance des défibrillateurs à proximité.
En la testant, je tombe sur des cas de crash de l’app ainsi que de gros problèmes d’accessibilité #a11y (thème sombre et dynamic types entre autres non gérés).
Est-ce que l’app est #opensource ? Non.
Est-ce que les données sont ajoutées sur #OSM ? Non plus.
Pourquoi cette fermeture ?

Ich stelle vor, was man mit den Daten (georeferenzierte Videos) so machen kann und könnte. Von GPX tracks über Streetview bis zu Falschparker-Anzeigen.
Primärer Fokus ist die Verwendung am Fahrrad, es sind aber auch andere Einsatzzwecke möglich.
Remember an important OSM rule: Don’t just bulk import your gender from an “official” source. Maybe the on the ground gender you survey yourself is more accurate, and you should throw away the official version?
Trans people are mappers, and hackers, and cartographers, and have always been a part of the OpenStreetMap community.
The OpenStreetMap project is creating a freely licenced map of the world, based on how things actually are, based on how they act, and appear, not based on what some government says. OSM is trans positive.
Hey #OpenStreetMap bubble: What are my options for self-hosting a minimalistic (forward) geocoder?
I'm using #Protomaps and I enjoy not having to run a big Postgres server and associated tooling to get a nice map, but now I'd like to allow my users to find the coordinates for addresses by searching in a simple text field.
I'm pretty tired of having to use #GoogleMaps to share locations with people I'm making appointments with.
I've made a little application to convert the sharing links from #OrganicMaps to Google Maps which I open in this example, but there's no need in practice, I just have to share it with whoever I want!
I've also set up https://mapu.retiolus.net, which can be activated in the settings, if needed, to resolve certain short links from Google Maps without going through their servers.

Après ma balade à la tourbière (pouet précédent), j'ai visité quelques villages sur le chemin du retour. Quelques éléments repérés pour cartographier sur #OSM, dont :
• une boîte moche et qui sert de dépotoir à de vieux livres pourris ou prosélytisme religieux. J'ai fait un gros ménage.
• une toute simple sous un vaste abri près d'une aire de jeux et pique-nique.
• une planquée dans un abri bus. Beaucoup de livres pour enfants.
• une jolie à un p'tit magasin.
