So #Plex has a "sonic adventure" feature that lets you put in two or more songs then it fills in a playlist which selects tracks of sonically similar values leading from song to song until you reach the target using tracks from your collection.
Here is a playlist it generated going from Phoenix by The Tear Garden to Lisztomania by Phoenix.
I would not have created this playlist on my own.
Also it is fun to see #fedi artists pop up in playlists based on sonic thumbprint.
Follow up on my quest to reduce dependancies with Apple Music/Spotify.
I've got a lot of music on my hard drive now.
And I have to say: Plexamp is really, really well done actually. This is what the others should do for a good music experience.
I'm really enjoying #Tidal with #Plex. It's an even better way to play music from Linux, Windows and Android thanks to Plexamp and the Plex web app.
It's not perfect, and my main annoyance with it is that if I pause the music for too long while playing a PlexAmp station, it will start over.
The #PlexAmp app has the ability to control the Sonos speaker volume using the phone volume rocker, but unfortunately this means it will set it to 0 if I turned it down to avoid loud videos playing.
Heppy new year to all #selfhosted#homelab#geeks out there! May your setups be error, bad sector, and crash free, and let there be enough storage for all our needs!
Time to kick this ‘24 with some classics... volume 100, #plexamp…GO!
Wrote a little thing about Plexamp, my favorite app of the year. Even if you don't read it, if you have a sizable music collection and you use Plex, you should check out Plexamp.
Bought PlexPass and decided I would try Tidal again because they give Plex people a discount. Honestly I’ve been using it for 15min and already I much prefer how Tidal handles favorited artists/music over Apple Music. In that 15 min I’ve been able to find all the artists I listen to and more. Apple Music always seemed to obscure your favorites and it was much more difficult to find something to listen to without search. #Plex#Tidal#AppleMusic#PlexAmp
I started using PlexAmp recently, but it can be coaxed into printing output like Spotify Wrapped. I don't use Spotify or similar streaming services as I prefer to pay artists directly as much as possible, but it is fun to see the top artists for the year.
Open PlexAmp, Tap the Search icon, then under Aural Fixation tap the category (Artists, Albums, Tracks, etc). At the top of the next screen tap the header and set it to Yearly and pick 2023.
Another home lab install - I decided to give Plex another try for managing my music, and after installing Plexamp, I can't say I hate it. Works well on phone, ipad, and even CarPlay.
Still going to give Navidrome a try. Looked at Funkwhale but I'm not quite there yet.
@timelordiroh there's several made by Audio Technica that do just that but a better question is...why?
Most record players have audio out which you can convert into a 3.5mm jack and record off that if you need to.
I have a stack of records that I listen to exclusively through my record player (even though my setup sucks) and I have FLACs I listen to on the go using #PlexAmp.
I like the mixes that #plexamp creates but I wish there was a way for it to know that a track is an intro to the track following it. It should either avoid intro tracks or play the assocated track immediately after it
I'm planning on setting up a #rasberrypi music streamer. I'll be throwing headless #plexamp to play my music library and I'll probably use #moodeaudio as the base image to get me bluetooth, airplay and a few other bits. Does anyone know how I can integrate podcasts into the platform? I was thinking of setting up an #audiobookshelf server and clients on my mobile devices but I'm not sure how to stream a podcast to the pi so that it keeps track of my position across all my devices.

I bought a lifetime subscription to Plex to help support them, and I hope other folks have as well because they provide a great service and delightful software.
While yes, there are alternatives to the self-hosted media server space (and some decent open source ones, I’m told!), Plex has consistently been the easiest for me to set up and have non-tech folks use.
I also hope Plexamp remains unscathed because I love it so much more than other music apps!
Based on the weather forecast through Tuesday, looks like today is the only day to get a dog walk in... Weather is showing thunderstorms tomorrow through Tuesday...
Welp, time to load up Plexamp and my J-Pop library. My go to is 80s radio and listening to the #CityPop and #ShowaIdol goodness!
