I didn't used to be a "militant" user, but I've been bitten too many times by companies with . For example, DAW, - both companies that decided to say fuck you to perpetual licenses. Now, I try to avoid any proprietary application. I recently went looking for a good notes app and everyone loves . As soon as I saw it was closed source, I noped out and settled on . These companies will eventually fuck over customers so I won't waste my time.

Interesting as an archive to remember how unreliable proprietary software products/services are, and that any success relies on a myriad of failures' foundation...

Ich gehe sogar so weit, dass unter Open-Source Software schneller Fehler korrigiert wird als bei geschlossene und teure Software, da ausgegangen wird dass Unsichtbarkeit nützt.

Microsoft Teams is:

  1. A terrible user experience
  2. Slow and resource hungry
  3. Low-key spyware
  4. A walled garden that shuts down competition due to the way the product fundamentally works
  5. With poor uptime
  6. Poor discoverability
  7. With insufficient privacy and notification controls
  8. Aggressively and in my view inappropriately pushed - particularly into public services contracts
  9. Resulting in a massive attack and personal identity fraud vector just waiting to be exploited

Perhaps we shouldn’t outsource our logistical means of communications in organisations that rely on good communication to operate? Just a thought.

Great guide to freeware substitutes for expensive Adobe products.

@PJDavidson excellent infographic! Great reminder to say fuck and its freedom-infringing bullshit.

Out of all the companies, it's the single worst one in terms of greed, control-thirst and lock-in, and yet nobody seems to be pointing them out on this.

Never forget "Flash for Linux," which they stopped developing thinking it would hurt us, but HTML5 crushed it. Then, after it clearly became useless, they resumed its development.

Nope, fuck Adobe, once again.
