C'est beau la vieille pierre.
Mais... Bordel, rénover coûte un bras !!! C'est ubuesque. Pourquoi construire une merde en parpaing mal isolé coûte 2 fois moins cher que rénover un bâtiment ancien ?
À l'heure de la zéro artificialisation des sols, et des canicules à répétition, la vieille pierre avec sa fraîcheur et son inertie devrait être avantagée. Mais non, c'est le contraire...
C'est beau, mais si ça devait être à refaire, et bien je ne le referais pas. ⤵️
Je partirai plutôt sur une MOB (maison à ossature bois) avec des murs épais en auto-construction intégral.
Le coût global serait plus faible et je ne serai pas dépendant des avis d'expert de la rénovation du bâtiment ancien.
Bref, notre société capitaliste favorise le bâti neuf et pourri et de fait, laisse en ruine de nombreux bâtiments ancien. #renovation#batiment

Repainting the walls and restoring this amazing drafting table I got for free at the refurbish. Mechanics works perfectly, but the surface needs some attention.
I don’t miss doing architecture, but I really missed a drafting table.
I can’t wait for this new studio coming together, it’s my big project of 2024!

Oui, en grande partie, circuits électriques compris.
Des copains viennent me donner un coup de main quelques jours par an pour les gros coups :
pour cette pièce, le plancher, deux velux, la deuxième couche d'isolant du toit et un pan du lambris de plafond.
Idem chaque année pour les poutres et les planchers des autres pièces.
Entre temps j'avance à mon rythme.
Old house enthusiasts, I could use your help! Contractor unexpectedly cut out some of the original 1940 tile from our bathroom floor during tile repair. Setting aside the issues with the contractor, I am looking for solutions on how to fill this gap. Are there vendors of floor tile that would fit in here or could be cut to fit in here? how can we get the closest match? Looking for specific recommendations if anyone has them!

The toilet and the sink are gone, as well as the 1980's tile. The vintage 1935 yellow tub will be restored.
The primary color will be jade green with accents of yellow and darker green. I had assumed the tub was a lost cause, but I found a match on my first try!
I have spec'd 13 different types of tiles in different colors and patterns. Man, leaning hard on my engineering skills when dealing with the amount of tile in a 1930's bathroom!

My uncle the schoolteacher’s desk, later in my eldest sons room and lately so much in the way in the garage is now in my hallway. I’ll start by dissembling it … saving it for a winter renovation project. Drawers are impossible to open, it’s very dirty and perhaps it should go back to its original wood finish.
It gave way to put the desktop/workbench in the garage on consoles and 2 legs instead of the tree buchers and opens up the space under. #sarassummer23 @gardening #renovation
Dave is drilling a hole through the ceiling in the office, up into the attic. I'm worried, but I cannot go look. I'm just going to have faith that he's got this.
Sept 7 and these are on their way to the paint shop … patio sofa and all window shutters except those under roof … that sofa will be carefully restored, antique as it is from the original furniture of the Gothenburg university building - more or less exactly 116 years old. Tomorrow morning it’s 7 days until the autumnal equinox and I got a photo report from the paint shop. My sofa is now dissembled. I really wish I had an indoor workshop-so envious…
The bench for the hallway is finally finished and stained, remains transparent spray lacquer, but I had to take it indoors last night. Even the wood glue refused to dry. That’s how humid it’s been. Better today, but sure a few showers-and COLD🥶 #sarassummer23 @gardening#renovation#carpentry#weather

Du coup je me lance avec cette première pièce : l'ancienne petite porcherie qu'on transforme en pièce à toilettes sèches, renommé "Le petit groin" ! 🐷 💚
En photo la pièce au début du "gobetis" (première couche d'accroche chaux sable) et la suite ↓ 🧵
Et après les couches d'accroche, on a fait une deuxième couche d'enduit.
Sur 2 murs sur 3, ça sert aussi de semi-couche de finition où l'on a appliqué un lait de chaux en deux couches 🙂
Ces couches sont appliquées "al fresco", quand l'enduit d'avant est encore frais !
Ça fait un rendu blanc, qui nous permettra ensuite de pouvoir décorer plus tard ce mur 🙂 🎨
Sur le mur de gauche, on va tester une dernière couche de finition avec du sable fin et blanc
