*A street musician making music for tips. This one is special as it was bought in person by @Anguwalters' web guy 16 years ago. Only art prints available.
After I bought it we kept in touch and pretty soon I made the website. I never expected to become an art patron but here we are.
#art#history: this is the face (interpreted as it is by a hand not quite as gifted as his) of a true polymath. jean cocteau (born #otd in 1889) was a poet, artist, filmmaker, novelist, playwright & critic - &, yet, he still saw himself as 'un inconnu celebre'. 'i'm a famous unknown person', he said. he spent his 74 years on this marble slipping on a whim from one discipline to the next, all the while trying to discover himself. his conclusion? Figured I need an introductory post so here's a picture from long ago, but one I'm still pretty fond of. Who doesn't love a good pun name?
My name is Dee and I've been on a two-ish year hiatus from creating much art or pursuing the Imaginarium. Now I'm back to arting and this time on decentralized platforms! Woo!
Working directly in pen is rather freeing. The whole history of the drawing is just stuck there. I can’t be mushy and tentative, like I can when sketching with pencil… I need to wait until I’m ready to make the mark, and then I need to be decisive about it.
"Cultural, visual storytelling and imagination with a cubist surreal totally creative and imaginative style that incorporates interesting characters and aspects of Cameroon to light. Beautiful use of colours and African patterns. Visually pleasing and creative. Well done."
I'm thrilled to say that my painting "The Dark Horse" is on the cover of On Spec magazine! ☺️ Inside this latest issue you'll find my artist interview by the fabulous Cat McDonald, alongside some pretty amazing short fiction. Check it out here: https://onspec.ca/current-issue or read the magazine for free with any Alberta library card: https://albertamagazines.com/read-alberta-emagazines
Me: Is there a third character?
My twelve-years-old: Maybe it's God?
(You can use hints from the description.)

Ok starting a new art thread for 2023! Here's the deal: a mostly daily thread with a different artist every day (sometimes I repeat from previous years if I feel like featuring other work/projects), primarily modern and contemporary since that's my thing. I'm even making a hashtag for it in case that makes it easier for folks to follow. Enjoy! #art#BigArtThread
