Noone has done a #DIY #122Key(+) #Keyboard to this day.

C'mon #CustomKeyboard Gang...

Y'all disappoint me with your 40%, 65% and 85% layouts!

kkarhan,

And yes, I need moar buttons than #TEX puts on the #Shinobi and yes I want an #UltraNav-Style #Trackpoint as well!

I found the perfect idea for a #Torture #Keyboard:

A 100% (122+ keys) board where EVER KEY HAS A DIFFERENT SWITCH!

Force someone to type on that and they'll go completely nuts on hot it fucks with their mind...

This is tech sadism that makes even the most tough people call me a monster!

kkarhan, (edited )

@jennzycos basically a #Tex but better...

After weeks (months?) of neglecting guix-devel email and/or taking vacations, I learn that something unbelievable happened: all of Live has been imported in , as 4K+ individual packages, including “collections” and “schemes” (≅ meta-packages):

Thumbs up to Nicolas Goaziou for this achievement!

Guten Morgen Fediverse ☕

So... can anyone recommend me a editor for Android?

It doesn't actually need to compile the files. But I do want to be able to edit the .tex files which I save on Google Drive, and have the editor display the markup correctly.

Turgon,
@Turgon@rollenspiel.social avatar

@juergen_hubert

has syntax highlighting for TeX files and has shortcut buttons for nearly all special characters.
I never missed something for editing.
I never used and itself on a mobile device, though.

Moonlander, kinesis, ergodox, so many options for split keyboards - but not a single one with a built in trackpoint! Surely there must be a market for it... Hey Tex.com.tw - I love my shinobi, but would you please split it ergonomically down the middle for me, so that my back also loves it?

Also wenn ich und von Grund auf verstehen will, dann komme ich wohl um das Buch von Donald Knuth "The TEXbook" nicht drum herum oder? 🤔

Das Spannende an dem Buch ist aktuell, dass auf den ersten Seiten keine Übungen am Programm kommen, sondern man grundsätzliche Dinge über Typografie lernt. 😅

Ein völlig anderer Ansatz, der mir gut gefällt. Alles erstmal ohne PC.

"Knuth knew that high-resolution digital typesetting machines could produce precise shapes, but the expertise of professional typesetters had been lost in the transition. What if, he wondered, computer software could do the same job? In 1977, Knuth spent the summer as well as part of his sabbatical year working on just such a digital typography program"

Concerning the last update and the corresponding security vulnerabilities allowing the call of arbitrary shell commands even with shell escape disabled there now is additional information available.

Details at:
https://tug.org/~mseven/luatex.html

This includes information how one can even fix an older TeX Live release.

this post by @rzeta0 blew my mind:

«I read that tex and Latex were never meant to be user-facing.

The idea was for user facing tools to generate latex behind the scenes.

I have been using http://lyx.org for about 20 years.

It mostly succeeds in hiding LaTeX.»

Another reason to hate . I took data from a colleague’s slide to put into a document. When I processed my file I kept getting errors and I couldn’t see anything with that was wrong with the file. It turns out that the original file contained a -width character which I couldn’t see! The solution was to use od -c | less to spot anything untoward in my source .

Very glad to see the steps toward (). These include "offering well-formatted , alongside and source."
https://blog.arxiv.org/2023/01/19/access-is-not-the-same-as-accessibility-a-framework-for-making-research-papers-truly-open/

PS: There are 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 reasons to offer well-formatted HTML alongside PDF, or to stop PDF-only publishing. Accessibility is first, followed closely by making work friendly to mobile users, users with low bandwidth, and users who need to text-mine, cut/paste, or use machine translation.
