M7.6 #earthquake as it happened, interrupting NHK General TV sports programming. Looks like there was a M5.7 beforeshock which did not prompt tsunami issues but note how = YL announcer's voice gets more & more serious as EEW after EEW blinks out covering more & more prefectures. Eventually, #Tsunami warnings enters around 7 minutes into the recording... and she almost loses her mind, literally shouting "HINAN!!! HINAN!!!" (RUN!!! RUN!!!)
And TV Asahi-affiliated ANN YT channel started this stream right when #tsunami warning had been issued. Still going, so not sure what happens to it if runtime exceeds 12 hours 🤔 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R2wb6Yaac0

Both 1107 AM transmitters for Hokuriku Hoso in Nanao and Wajima are on a soon-to-slash list of stations/transmitters to be shut down "temporarily" in 2024, as part of planned AM-to-FM conversion of Japanese commercial radio. For Hokuriku Hoso, only a 5kW station in Kanazawa, also on 1107 kHz, is to stay for now.
Guess if any of these transmitters get damaged today, they'd consider an earlier cessasion of their service...
I'm hearing a mention of KDDI - so this might implicate disturbance to phone network, Internet access, maybe TV/radio broadcast availability too #tsunami
