Whoever created this part of the Garmin app should be fired. Give me a damn input field you crazy idiots. A normal bottle is 750ml and will take you 5 minutes of swiping this damn thing
New feature added to the engine's GUI submodule: resizable Windows.
This will be included in v0.11.0-beta, alongside with MIDI control value filtering, individual master levels to each channels of the audio modules for easy volume settings without M2 scripts, and maybe even a better file dialog (any #uxdesign -er willing to help out with that?)...

Some back and forth with another senior dev and we disagree on some points about UI density. For commercial software a less dense UI might be useful for lowering the perceived complexity for new users while high density is essential for power users.
Ex. My mother works with banking software and in their newest release they're making the UI less dense to simplify it. This has resulted in issues finding settings that are now hidden behind troves of menus and additional screens.
Did you notice? We have almost 5.000 followers!
Now we're wondering: might we find among you (or your network) two experienced UX/UI designers who are willing to engage in a 6-month volunteer project? We need to come up with a way to fit a bunch of new functionality into the already busy player screen. We're looking for two people (one for each role) to help us with this.
Interested? More info? Send a DM or email keunes@mailbox.org.
Boosts appreciated! #UXdesign#UIdesign#OpenSource
Does anyone have a good working definition of what an "intuitive interaction" a means? Not academically as such, think something usable as design principles.
I currently working with:
"An interaction is intuitive when it is learned and understood through the act of doing it once"
The key for me (I think) is in the "act of doing it" bit. Learned by doing and simple enough that's it's understood as you do it.
@edeverett I suspect we are thinking with different end users in mind is all. A shower pull cord is intuitive to most people in the uk because we are already familiar with one. But even if it is simple and only needs using once to understand, it may not be intuitive to other people because they won’t think to try using it in the first place.
(which is why I think of "intuitive" to mean more than "simple")
@edeverett Perhaps: "An intuitive UI makes the result of using the UI apparent - without having to rely on instruction, prior experience, or trial use of the UI"
For design inspiration, I'm trying to gather a list of desktop apps that are fun/enjoyable and don't have a corporate/enterprise feel to them.
Not games or streaming apps though. It feels like desktop app design hasn't kept pace with modern web app design but maybe my searches aren't using the right terms.
I realize this is subjective, but I'd still like more examples. 😁 Thx!
An AI function I would use:
During video calls, generate video of my face that always looks at the camera – not slightly down at my laptop keyboard, or sideways at the cat – in the interest of better interpersonal communication through eye contact.
In my version you get a generated 3D avatar that looks like you (no choice) and rather than streaming video you stream facial expression. You don't have to worry about lighting, your hair, or anything so you can just take the call. No more black screens in meetings.
Understanding and implementing the Web Accessibility Content Guidelines (WCAG) can be difficult for even trained experts. Catherine helps us with WCAG 2.2′s newest guideline by explaining the requirements and providing examples of how to improve our user interfaces.
If your security team is still forcing users to have password rules like this, it's time to fire your security team. #IT#Security#UX#UXdesign#onboarding
During fixing one of the critical bug in an enterprise system, I have seen a dev didn't even know that java calendar month started from 0, caused the bug; I am not really surprise if someone don't know about hash functions.
Hallo zusammen!
