Millions of Americans live within one mile of an abandoned coal mine or an orphaned oil and gas well. These sites are environmental hazards that pollute backyards and community spaces.

@TonyStark When I moved to Ohio I discovered mine subsidence. Earth can shift around old mines. There are so many of them that locations may be unknown, so a third of counties require homeowners insurance to cover it. Also, according to a recent study, there are close to 200,000 abandoned oil and gas wells in Ohio alone. Only a small fraction have been plugged.
So grateful that the President is beginning to address these hazards. Hope that more states can be helped in the future.

Great news! Just a reminder that there are critical elections coming up for the Ohio Supreme Court this year. The current Court, which includes the son of Republican Governor Dewine(!) has a one seat R majority. Democrats have a good shot of winning a majority this fall. Every election counts. #VoteBlue2024
Having heard testimony from several witnesses about what a cheapskate trump is, how he squeezes every penny, blah blah, I'm quite surprised he hasn't asked Putin to send him some Russian uniforms to wear. trump would want to be a general, no doubt, but Putin wouldn't care. It's not like anyone would understand his orders if he gave any. And he'd save a bundle not buying those ugly plus size suits any more.
@bkahn Trump wears $10,000 Brioni suits. He's probably the only guy on the planet that could make them look like thrift shop finds. Perhaps they come pre wrinkled? 🤮
@noondlyt@bkahn Forbes analyzed his "style". The suits are cut wide to hide his bulk, but instead they just look sloppy.
I've read that he is obsessed with his hair and makeup, and does both himself. Apparently he's given up on everything below the neck.😉
@dalfen Incredible that he is so fastidious about hair and makeup but still ends up looking like something out of a freak show.
Part of the problem may be that he doesn't see well- could help explain problems with teleprompter-and his people are afraid to tell him how bizarre he looks.
@dalfen I worked with elders with vision problems all my life. It was sad to see older ladies who looked clownish because they could not see well enough to apply their make up.😔
I have no sympathy for trump. He is a mean person who deserves to be ridiculed at every turn.
@maddad I am with you. I think it's a huge mistake on Biden's part. I am absolutely appalled by his statement, but will vote for him in November.
Anyone who thinks trump would handle the crisis better or that they are sending a message by not voting is sadly deluded. Trump's son in law already has said Israel should "finish the job" so he can get on with development of waterfront property in Gaza.
@maddad I feel that way as well. Old school Democrats have supported Israel's brutal apartheid system since its founding. I am a lifelong Democrat who has always disagreed with US Israel policy. Even as a child I was aware of the cruelty and injustice. I guess I was hoping against hope that Biden would be different, but here we are. 😔
Well, as I said a few days ago, as an experiment I stopped cutting off the flower stalks of the very mature rhubarb I have and this is the result. It's teeming with hover flies and other small flying insects that I could not identify. #BloomScrolling of a sort! #gardening #allotment #zone6b #NewEngland @gardening
