"Let people have nice things," inner-Alex murmurs into my ear as I scroll the morning timeline.

Sometimes it is nice to see someone enjoy something that doesn't make sense to you. I don't personally find benefits or enjoyment in things that are popular at the moment.

The moment is fleeting, seasonally things change, and soon we will go back to the "norm". Once that happens, they won't have anything to enjoy and that makes me slightly sad for them. When the eclipse or March madness or Superbowl season or tax season or new video game patch day occurs...I see many people blister and demand that others understand their personal discontent.

I'm not a fan either, but I tend to spend my energy focused on what I am a fan of. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't feel wrong. I feel like perhaps focusing on what you are interested in, is a good way to focus.

Can someone explain to me how this is a good thing?

They're getting rid of state vehicle inspections starting in 2025.

Apparently, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed some House Bill 3297 thing in June of 2023.

So, no more mandatory inspections in Texas for noncommercial vehicles starting in 2025.

In NY, state we have annual inspections of all vehicles, which include tires, brakes, suspension, etc. but most of all emissions.

I don't see how this is good for Texans

So, Florida's Supreme Court said that the state constitution doesn't protect abortion rights.

That means one of the strictest abortion bans in the country can start on May 1st.

But, in another decision, they also said that an amendment to put abortion rights in the state constitution can go on the ballot in November. So, people could vote to undo the ban pretty quickly.

Montana's top court just threw out laws that the Republican-led legislature passed to make it harder to vote.

The court said the laws violated the state constitution's guarantee of the right to vote.

They got rid of same-day voter registration. And, the law that wouldn't let students use their ID cards to vote.

They also got rid of the law stating no more absentee ballots for people who would be 18 by Election Day.
