It would appear that the indication is strong that has massively fucked up their offense in some areas.

I have seen rather indicative footage of at least two destroyed Leopard 2A5, 3 Bradleys.

The way they were bunched up (and ran into each other) are kind of indicative of horrible mistakes by UA Troops.

I hope they learn, because if they repeat this, the russian stratagem of "west can not deliver more" will prevail.

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@chrisschmitz ..indeed the loss itself is not catastrophic, the learning part is key

If Ukraine information warfare is functioning well (as it did until now), we probably have a wrong and incomplete picture of the ongoing offensive or activities. 🤔

So Putin invades Ukraine, blows up a dam, creating an ecological and human disaster, deploys nuclear weapons in Belarus and even now there are people arguing we should not "provoke" Putin to avoid escalation.

Looking for a simple, short explanation what Generative AI is all about ? This 20 minutes video by Google is really good.

#Ukraine Denys Davydov confirms what I believed: Russia destroyed armoured column of Leopard 2 tanks starting counteroffensive
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N85cRT5JWvc and asks why did Ukraine make many basic mistakes, causing slaughter of so many soldiers?

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@maiamaia ...there will be many losses, even if everything goes well, the important question is how fast they learn and adapt. They all had very short training with all the new equipment so they will have to learn a lot "on the job"...

In a recent report on , the administration pinpointed the computational costs of generative as a national concern. The wrote that the is expected to “dramatically increase computational demands and the associated impacts,” and that there’s an “urgent need” to design more systems.

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@Jigsaw_You ...that's a temporary problem in my view, models get more efficient (lots of work already in progress with all the major platforms), renewable energy becomes more abundant. Ofcourse it needs to be managed/controlled.

If you read one article on AI, read this one "Why AI Will Save the World", no hype, debunking various myths, identifying cults/sects in AI. .

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@simeon ...the last will often be the case but that problem can not really attributed to AI but is a larger societal issue i think

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@Jigsaw_You ...and what exactly in the article do you disagree with (besides the what extreme title, i agree 🙂 )

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@Jigsaw_You ...true , that's also one of the "frames" in the article i don't agree with 😀 , what i like is the opportunities described which are concrete and attainable in the short term, for everybody.

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@Jigsaw_You ...well, Bing , Bard, ChatGPT are all available for everybody, at least until now , not saying he is right on all aspects but he makes at lot of valid points, the broad debate is already there in my view, mainly governments need to act instead of only using words, regulations and ethical frameworks. The EU is trying i would add.

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@Jigsaw_You ..we could organise a separate discussion about that topic, success or failure of current market economy :-), governments surely have their role to play, also with laws and regulations. But also with applying existing laws.

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

@Jigsaw_You …Yes, especially within the EU there is an ongoing discussion about AI & ethics with experts/specialists , Many reports and a framework were produced. The EU did a good job.

ErikJonker,
@ErikJonker@mastodon.social avatar

Interesting "McKinsey and Company, the global consulting firm with more than 30,000 employees in 67 countries, is embracing new generative AI tools in a major way: Nearly 50% of the firm’s workforce is using ChatGPT and similar technology."
Also Mckinsey mentions how people are using generative AI (4 Cs): Coding, Customer engagement, Creative content generation, Content synthesis.
