This is probably your father's fetish, dear reader, or perhaps his father's. But in my experience the fetishes of yesteryear trickle down through the decades. In any age, there are always a few stalwarts who still appreciate the bygone hotnesses of old. The fetish for rubber swimming caps is one of those that persists long after the article itself has fallen firmly out of fashion: http://www.erosblog.com/2021/12/08/her-red-rubber-swim-cap/ #latex #rubber #SwimCaps #SwimmingCaps #fetish #topless #breasts #nude

It seems to me that the sexual respectability of male has declined.

The "patriarchy is good, stay barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen" thing was always an issue. But "good provider, has a kitchen" flies with that flock of memes; it's a known deal-closer.

Not that anger was ever rare in conservatism, but levels of foaming rage toward "the other" poses new problems for the Lothario. Rage and the habits of disrespect are dangerous to , and they know it.

@ErosBlog@kinkyelephant.com avatar

When I write "the habits of disrespect are dangerous to women, and they know it" this is also why (in my opinion) a man on the make should never be heard referring to any woman as a bitch or a cunt.

    @romancelandia As you may already know, Harlequin is shutting down the Desire line at the end of this year, leaving more than thirty of their authors without a "home" line.

    Today my boomer sister asked if I thought we truly have as much antisemitism in the USA as cable news interviewees say we do. I told her we do have a lot, but also that noisy and powerful partisans desperately want us to confuse antizionism with antisemitism and are doing their best to obscure the difference by labeling antizionists as antisemites at very high volume. Then I had to explain what Zionism is and then she appeared to greatly regret asking me and was at pains to change the subject.

    I just read the novel Red Team Blues by Cory Doctorow (@pluralistic) and if you were to imagine a nostalgic cypherpunk tale plotted by Neal Stephenson (only with editing), then tightly written in intricate prose that will remind you of William Gibson's (@GreatDismal) recent/best works, this is like that. It's awesome.

    What do I mean by "nostalgic cypherpunk?" Well, Tim May gets namedropped and our protagonists are old enough to "remember when crypto meant cryptography.”

    It's a very good read.

    Present mood: amused by the little blonde girl on TikTok who opines with some merit that if your lady won't do "because it will hurt too much" but she has , she's just playing you -- doesn't wanna let YOU specifically up in her aft business AND doesn't wanna be straight with you about it.

    Everyone is entitled to have limits and boundaries without owing explanations to anyone. But if she offers you a reason that's patently bogus? Possible red flag...

    ErosBlog,
    @ErosBlog@kinkyelephant.com avatar

    @girlonthenet Honestly I probably had a "this is funny" reaction to a false analogy that doesn't have much actual real-world merit. The person whose mini-rant amused me obviously wasn't taking "but it hurts" as a serious objection, presumably because that's not how she experiences anal. She seems young, and in my experience the "my experience must be the universal experience" fallacy is one we tend to unlearn with age and experience.

    I stuck my nose just now into our kitchen where The Nymph is making Halloween-themed sugar cookies, and promptly got myself shrieked at. "What are you doing?!? You can't eat cookie dough! It has eggs in it!"

    After I finished chewing and swallowing, I allowed as how there might be a conversation to be had about my prudence, but she was looking at an existence proof of my ability to eat that cookie dough. I concluded with a rhetorically-strong "I ain't afraid of no salmonellas!" Then, I vamoosed.

    ErosBlog,
    @ErosBlog@kinkyelephant.com avatar

    @sandralindsey Here in the USA, where chickens are kept very poorly in mass-industrial facilities, the food safety puritans and government authorities have been telling us for decades not to eat raw eggs in any form or amount due to Salmonella risk. Nor any kind of cooked egg with a runny yolk!

    The good news is that essentially nobody listens to them. However, my Nymph has a touch of OCD that can manifest as paranoia about food safety and freshness. So she takes the warning very seriously.

    When the hero of the story we are reading shares a stressful event with an unattached woman who accidentally exposes a tattoo that says "His Little" and his first thought is "his little what?" that is when we all understand that Our Hero is about to undergo some extremely rapid character development during which he's going to acquire a new nickname/title.

    ErosBlog,
    @ErosBlog@kinkyelephant.com avatar

    PS I know someone fairly well IRL who has her ex-husband's name tattooed across her right shoulder blade in letters three inches high, which I think she may regret more than the long-defunct marriage. Thus I feel like extra prudence points are due the fictional young lady who got "His Little" tattooed below her butt cheek instead of, say, "Bob's Little". It suggests she understood from the beginning that her understanding of herself as a little was more enduring than her daddy was.

    TikTok and Mastodon have taught me that "breedable" (or sometimes "submissive and breedable") has become a bit of a synonym for sexually attractive, "often used with irony or playfulness" as the Urban Dictionary puts it. Which is great good fun and I love it.

    However, I feel like I'm seeing it most often, perhaps even almost exclusively, used to describe and compliment transwomen. Is that a genuine nuance of usage, or is it just because of the demographics of Mastodon?

    “Scientists warn society could collapse this century.”

    If modern, global society were in the midst of a drawn out but accelerating process of collapse, what might it look like?

    Could it look like exponentially growing war dead around the world, from Ukraine to Gaza to Tigray? Could it look like entire cities destroyed by hurricanes, like Acapulco, or entire countries flooded, like Pakistan last year? Might it look like mass migration from south to north, with fascist reactionaries seizing power in response? Could it look like the chaotic nihilism of an epidemic of mass shootings?

    Maybe?

    @HeavenlyPossum Historians claim that the collapse of the Roman empire was experienced by most of its citizens as "bad things happening to somebody else, elsewhere in the empire." Locally, for most, during much of the collapse, it was a lot of "the economy is worse every year and nobody is fixing the aqueduct and the news from Rome is always bad and weird."

    See also "collapse is already here, it's just not evenly distributed."
