The https://dwebcamp.org/videos/ crew look so out of touch with the and our reboot in general.

Hamishcampbell,

@bhaugen one thing i came away from this video https://dwebcamp.org/videos/meet-the-real-social-media-influencers/ was that everyone is building to fix the problems "within" capitalism, they are learning how to do change in the context of capitalism etc their thinking is bound, there movenmt is bound

Hamishcampbell,

@bhaugen why do you ask :)

Hamishcampbell,

@bhaugen I have talked to the organizers a few times over the last years, they have an agenda.

From this look through the videos...

Hamishcampbell, to fediverse

@e8johan was wondering about the status of the https://conf.tube instance to host videos for this https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/ngi-forum-2023/3354 and who is admin now for uploads. is this instance still a part of our "commons" :)

Hamishcampbell,

@e8johan that's kinda fragile, all our "commons" infrastructure is kinda hollowed out at mo etc. not sure what to do for the best.

This is my periodic reminder to support your instance - nearly all instances are free and rely on donations to pay the bills. We appreciate donations to campaign and activism, and know that other instances may be struggling financially. If you are in a position to donate to your instance, please consider donating.

There is zero problems with those that can’t afford it. These are tough times and it’s important to provide a reliable and useful social network.

Hamishcampbell,

@michaelgraaf we are pretty good at weeding out the gritters - the people on here are all real, even if often off subject :)

@Hamishcampbell is campaign.openworlds.info staying afloat for the time being, ie. is it only the activism… instance which is going under?

Hamishcampbell,

@rooftopaxx yep, we are going to look at the sustainability of the campaign instance, but think it's half paying it hosting costs, activism covers no costs over a year. Will do funding outreach for the campaign instance over the next few months, we plan to keep it online, but it would be nice if it covered its hosting costs and help cover the costs of the wider

project aims to address challenges that currently exist within grassroots organizations by creating a tool set for 'Do It Yourself' (DIY) governance rooted by a 'Keep It Simple Stupid' (KISS) standard framework. Human organization and governance are inherently complex and messy. Standard approaches tend to enforce rigid structures - forcing messy processes to be, 'cleaner', 'neater' and 'tidier' - through such forced behaviour, inevitably failing.

Resource use is an issue with the codebase, it's not a on using it but is an issue to think about using a different codebase instead.

With Mastodon going down the path and wedded to feudalism as "governance" we also face these common issues for tech projects.

We make a mess in good to try different paths

Talking about the mess in governance, is not about you.

It's the subject, if we are going to organize in a way, using tools I hope.

at the we have been using Gitta (Forgejo) for the social organizing of the , but it is functionally a hard block for non geeks to stay onboard.

Mess making is the best we have now

The project emphasizes voluntary collaboration by prioritizing sortition and 'messy consensus' in achieving decision-making and a more equitable power distribution for all.

Draw on experience gained through the five years involvement with instances and the larger . The aims to decentralize democratic systems for grassroots governance, free to all with a focus on producers and consumers. This project does not seek to create a single organization dictating protocols or standards. Rather a vision to enable organic creation of synthesis, where competing arguments are broached to formulate corrective procedures and proposals for implementation.

it's a slave relationship :) well OK maybe a serf, most tech has this feudalism hardcoded its a path we need to do on hardcore :)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serfdom is how most and tech works... it's a mess, we do need to do better

Hamishcampbell, (edited ) to foss

it's the normal feudalism we need to move away from. Mess making is a problem with this stage of any grassroots movement. There is not much left of any "group" much more like cats it's individuals dressed as grassroots, human being are social, as is social media, we are still stuck in headspace with current "personal" mess making.

Hamishcampbell, to KISS

is a more apt and older hashtag, they were/are always cons for profit - it's economics

Hamishcampbell, to random

One thing I have learned in activism is that people will fight harder to keep the disfuction in place that address the needed change/challenge is worshiping the here and adding to the mess to be composted.

Hamishcampbell, to random

I think is the path, in this we do have to say NO to the "police". How this works is based on "trust" and firm foundations, and yes our only has a skeleton foundation, a good one but needs much more support, the event is for laying this support into the ground as foundations to build on.
