The has 3 subjects to talk about. 1) tradition of working activist grassroots organizing 2) the use of technological federation, ActivityPub and the Fediverse traditions to scale. 3) original thinking, bringing these together for grassroots producer governance, this part needs lots of input. https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/working-and-thinking-on-native-openweb-aproches-to-governance/2898?u=hamishcampbell

https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/working-and-thinking-on-native-openweb-aproches-to-governance/2898/12?u=hamishcampbell I wonder how much people recognize that from a “native” prospective we are failing in just about every way in the apart from more people, and more tech mess. Please don’t JUMP to take this the wrong way, more people is GOOD, more tech mess is part of the process.

Fluffy office occupations are a good tool for creating more real dialogue with organizations that are BLOCKING the change and challenge that is needed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MixCTe334io this is an example from

We are saturated in in all culture, look anywhere and this is obvious, from Netflix to Google search, from old school TV to legacy news media, signal to noise is feeding mental and social mess, uneasy and desease.

While we have our heads down worshiping the we cannot do anything about this inhumane mess.

The poison that is pop #postmodernism is that it pushes away shared world-views, and thus is a useful companion to the dominant #neoliberalism of our economic #mainstreaming mess.

Both of these ideologies are now dead and rotting, but this rot is festering the current mess spreading.

We need to compost #OMN

Building consensuses on shared world views helps with this, talk to your nabbers.

is an online platform that serves as a forum for discussions and collaboration related to the development and implementation of decentralized social networking protocols and technologies. The platform is focused on the Fediverse, a network of decentralized social media platforms that use the ActivityPub protocol to communicate with each other.

Hamishcampbell,

#SocialHub provides a space for developers, activists, and other stakeholders to share ideas, discuss technical issues, and collaborate on the development of decentralized social networking technologies. The platform is open to anyone who is interested in contributing to the development of decentralized social networking technologies and protocols. It is a community-driven project that is based on the principles of openness, collaboration, and decentralization.

The article "tragedy of the commons" the problem is yes, he is wrong, but the bigger problem is yes he is right in our capitalistic society - so in this second context it is very good to talk about the "tragedy of the commons". Context matters.

The project is an initiative aimed at reviving the project, a decentralized grassroots media network that emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The project was founded on the principles of open publishing, direct democracy, and anti-authoritarianism. This very powerful project was ripped apart from internal and external tensions and forces.

Hamishcampbell,

The project aims to reboot the project before the split happened, around 2008, with a focus on the path of the splinter groups. This path emphasizes and decentralized structures, rather than control and centralization. The project aims to learn from the mistakes of the past and avoid the same tribalism and power politics that led to the decline of the original project.

Hamishcampbell,

The project is based on the principles of openness, collaboration, and decentralization, and aims to provide an alternative to mainstream media by creating and distributing independent media content.

#Visionontv is a grassroots media project that aims to provide an alternative to mainstream media by creating and distributing independent video content. The project has been running for over ten years and is based on the principles of openness, collaboration, and decentralization. It uses #FOSS open-source software and decentralized platforms to create and distribute activist video content.

Hamishcampbell,

One of the key features of the project is its participation in the Open Media Network (#OMN), a decentralized network of media sites that share content and promote independent media that is not controlled by any single entity. The project emphasizes the importance of grassroots community-driven media, where people and groups can create and share their own content.

Been thinking a lot lately about the conflict between:

  • Making the web more open and interoperable with APIs, data exports, and easier search functionality

  • The need for privacy and consent with opt-in defaults, protections against data scraping / mining, owned + siloed websites

These values seem fundamentally opposed to me, no? Am I missing something?

Hamishcampbell,

Using existing 2008 indymedia process and instead of using category, we will be using hashtags to subject flows

Just because software is free doesn’t mean you shouldn’t support it financially if you can. Until we achieve utopia, money still powers life.

Go find an open source project you like and use a lot and donate to it, if you have the means.

Hamishcampbell,

@cda on that subject the running f the infrastructure is not without cost as well https://opencollective.com/open-media-network
