@StillIRise1963 80+ years ago,Blacks up and left Texas for Chicago and California because of racist government and Jim Crow.

@StillIRise1963 The Reverse Migration. A lot of the descendants of the Black population in Los Angeles moved back to the South starting in the 1990's. Or to Las Vegas. My mom flat out refused to move back to Alabama because the racism was still there. That was in 1995. I passed on moving to Atlanta or Miami after she passed for the same reason. We knew. I moved to New Mexico instead.

@StillIRise1963 The farthest south I've ever traveled is El Paso. And that's it. I now live 4 hours north of there in Albuquerque. If that clown gets elected,I'm close enough to the border to flee. Some of my ancestors chose to move to Windsor, Ontario,rather than stay in Alabama and Michigan. They never returned. I don't blame them.

@StillIRise1963 I rent my place here in Albuquerque. There's undoubtedly others here who would do the same thing. Probably in southern California also. It's not safe for anyone who's a minority or even a woman. And if civil war erupts? Millions will flee if they are able to. That's ultimately what Trump and his boys want. The community may give him the wrong result.

Social media disappointments:

  1. Journalists are still actively participating at exTwitter, thereby actively supporting Musk, who is helping extremists bring down democracy and, by extension, a free press.

  2. Reddit got away with stomping its volunteer moderators and users, and its execs are cashing in on an IPO that in a more just world would have flopped.

  3. Writers I respect decided to stick with Substack despite arrogant, extremist-friendly investors and leadership.

But I still block them when they show up. It's definitely a shit show of racists and misogynists. Threads is the same way.
