My Apple Watch keeps telling me I reached my "sleep goal" ten nights out of 14.

That's bullshit.

At 70, I reach my goal every night just by waking up the next morning.

If you know of someone who fits into one of these categories:

• Doesn't think their vote counts.

• Doesn't think who is in the Oval Office can change how they or their loved ones live, learn, pray (or don't).

• Doesn't think it's possible for this country to re-elect Trump or a Trump lite.

Ask them to mark August 23, 2023 on their calendars and on that day, do something they've probably never done before.

There are some vegetables I've had difficulty with in recent years, particularly zucchini and eggplant. The zucchini plants usually die before they can produce and the eggplants get eaten up and seldom produce either. This year, for the first time, I sprayed all the young plants with Sevin and then hit them again several weeks later. Certainly seems to have paid off. I've never had a zucchini plant this big.

A very large zucchini plant, over three feet high and just as wide, takes over a large section of a garden next to a decorative metal fence.

I don't know how many fellow white ppl need to hear this, but apparently it's a lot and so . . .

I get you're upset, jealous maybe, that so many marginalized Americans have days, weeks, months even designed to uplift, instill pride, call attention to the fact they're people too, but . . .

Their moving 1" closer to getting equal weight in society to us isn't something to fear.

They're not coming for us.

It's always been the other way around.

Always.

Ain't no Pride in that.

@ChanceHMiller Hi Chance - basically the Q is how close the videos used to show what the wearer sees is what you saw wearing it? First time Apple's not really been able to give a demo that people couldn't accept as fairly representative. definition, color accuracy, lag time, etc. Cuz y'know, it looked better than what we might see in a Cameron film.

"Bolts is a digital magazine that covers the nuts and bolts of power and political change, from the local up. We report on the local elections and obscure institutions that shape public policy but are dangerously overlooked, and the grassroots movements that are targeting them.

We focus on two areas where local governments play a key role: criminal justice and voting rights."

Yesterday I asked what your best non-physical qualities are.

Today, I"m asking for the opposite. What is one of your weaknesses? (Yeah, this will be harder to admit!)

Please boost for a wider audience.

I'll kick things off. I can procrastinate. I"m much better than I used to be, but I still have to be aware of that tendency!!!

JamesWNeal,
@JamesWNeal@mstdn.social avatar

@dancinyogi I'm very indecisive. So much so I'm glad you didn't ask me if that's my greatest weakness because I'm just not sure. There are so many, after all. Whichever one is at play at the moment seems to be the worst - for the moment.

I get why remain on the bird site. A lot of the newsmakers are there, as are most politicians.

But here's the thing.

If they want to cast a wide net, find stories worth telling, they also need to be here, because y'know, Elon's doing a bang up job of throwing a lot of the world into the closet.

So yeah, there are stories worth telling that you won't find on Twitter, but you sure as hell will find here.

Something to pass on to your comrades who haven't made the jump.

FB: one person likes a post linking to a Phoenix TV story about an Asian-American veteran standing up for his rights in conservative Wickenberg, AZ

Twitter: Crickets. We're still waiting.

Mastodon: Dozens share it. Many people comment and begin talking to each other. It helps that the man is on Mastodon and is participating, but the post started getting boosted long before that.

FB & Twitter are anti-social media.

What happens when you're so upset at all the anti-Biden signs in Wickenberg, AZ you put up your own quite graphic anti-Trump signs? Trumpers get upset and call the police and they come a knockin', but if you're @Yoshi you know your rights, don't back down & then one day a reporter comes knocking and your story gets out there for everybody to see.

Watch (and share) because there are more Democrats in Arizona than you might know.

(WaPo analysis by Philip Bump) We should recognize this effort as extending well beyond the conceit that Target or Bud Light or Kohl’s is trying to sell the LGBTQ lifestyle to kids. That’s simply the gateway rhetoric for a broader effort to scare companies into not creating marketing campaigns centered on any nonconservative or non-right-wing ideas at all. The LGBTQ focus is leveraging one of the more socially acceptable forms of discrimination.

(AP) More women sue Texas, asking court to put emergency block on state’s abortion law. One woman had to carry her baby, missing much of her skull, for months knowing she’d bury her daughter soon after she was born. Another started mirroring the life-threatening symptoms that her baby was displaying while in the womb. An OB-GYN found herself secretly traveling out of state to abort her wanted pregnancy, marred by the diagnosis of a fatal fetal anomaly.
