An embarrassing multi-million-dollar accounting error that occurred during PM Harper's tenure and was covered up for years at Veterans Affairs will end up costing taxpayers almost $1 billion.
More than 272,000 veterans were short-changed on pension and disability payments for almost eight years.
The error was fixed, but Harper's govt decided not to notify the affected veterans and not to offer reimbursement for the missed payments.

@edgarmtoro @gemelliz I hate Harper and Poilièvre w/ the strength of a 1000 suns, but the problem started in 2002 and was hidden from the Harper govt by VAC (gotta love the CYA game of public servants). The error was uncovered in 2018 and payments started in 2019.

What am I missing?

Today, Pierre publicly asserted that “China helped Justin Trudeau win the 2021 election”
Poilievre is sowing the seed of Chinese interference now which will allow him to use it and cry fraud/rigged if Trudeau wins in 2025.
If you look at what the Canadian conservative leader is doing from the Trump lens - it all makes perfect sense.

Please update your to take out relatives who have passed or who are in no condition to be your executor. (It’s a tough job that not everyone is fit to do even if there’s no major cognitive decline.)

I am speaking from experience.

The few hundred dollars you spend doing this will save your loved ones tons of efforts and money.

Wasted time and energy watching the 6 eps of ’s .

So many annoying things, the lighting sucks for key scenes, the lead’s French is horrific and his “acting” wooden, the story is needlessly convoluted, there’s pointless violence…

And the finale ep is a nightmare in many ways, including a beyond far fetched and ridiculous ending.

Took the to Tunney’s for the first time yesterday and visited Lyons and Parliament stops.

The platforms around the staircases/escalators near the trains are so narrow, it must be hell during heavy traffic days.

St-Laurent is fine though, probably due to the fact that it was built for the Transitway at a different time.

Also, a purely subjective opinion, but the ugliness. 😝

@srgower @stephanie I am a profound hater of this promo.

How do we know it has made a positive difference? And is it more than an investment in social services would have?

My main complaints are that a for-profit company w/ zero MH knowledge is using this as PR and that from personal experience, not everyone is equipped to handle a MH discussion well, especially in the workplace.

I live in a province that gets a lot of freezing weather, snow, and ice but hasn’t made winter tires mandatory.

It’s saves car owners time and $$ and allows them to be a danger to themselves and to others.

The bureaucratic and financial burden of dealing with a relative’s death when you don’t have a lot of money is A LOT.

It doesn’t help when the relative refused to provide you with any helpful info prior to death, because they’re of the generation that doesn’t talk about finances and may not even have an updated will.

And the seniors home they resided and died in, refuses you entry to access personal papers while having ample time to raid their drawers for money and jewellery.

I know it’s popular to tell people to “wear a mask indoors” to avoid

BUT, if you don’t work in person or travel by train/plane, it’s WAY more likely that you’ll get it from your nearest and dearest than grocery shopping.

Public Health is not there to enlighten us about risk levels, so we’re stuck hearing extremes (always a mask (even outdoors) vs never a mask).

It’s not helpful.

Here's something that may blow your mind:

I've spent most of my last 13 by myself, and it has been wonderful.

No expensive travel at the worst time of the year w/ bad weather surprises, no relatives I can't stomach, no late shopping until I drop for thoughtful gifts while receiving... an ugly green bath towel.

Yes, I come from a dysfunctional family, the main reason I've chosen to remain , but many things can be different AND good, if we let them.
