We are going to end up with half a million low-orbit comsats turning the night sky into a streaky blur because everyone uses Starlink or similar for broadband because the telcos have allowed their terrestrial cable infrastructure to decay, in the interests of maximizing profit. And of course the satellite broadband will be slow and buggy because overloaded.

Biden should be more concerned about Recall than Tik Tok.

Globally all governments should be very concerned about all of this and have immediately demanded a recall & get our privacy rights back.
This is critical for privacy, security.
They are allowing a world without rules, complete chaos because they are so enamoured by thievery, supremacy, power. I hope they all fall by the sword they forced in all our paths for seeking power without providing governance or leadership.

The investor is not the company.

The company are the people who make & provide the product or service invested in.

Investors are not invested in the company or its survival. They usurp the company as a c-suite become austerity overseers performing financial abuse on the company but are paid well to literally devalue the company & destroy. They choose to grow with ‘investors’ not workers. It’s a choice. Investors aren’t investors. It’s a lie. They are extractors.

They do not invest in companies.
They do not invest at all. They bribe greed & ego & power lust.
And founders, c-suite, and get rich quick sycophants walk away from the workers, from their own company when tempted by the extractor’s money. Everything knows there will never be a quality product, happy workplace, or innovation that isn’t destructive again. The investors want to extract their profit asap. Before it fails as intended. The company of people is sold out to extractors by owners.

Not sure if anybody's already coined the term "OStalgia"—the feeling you get when you see a screenshot of the OS you used growing up—but I've been having a fair amount of that lately.

Lot of good memories associated with System 7 and Mac OS 8–9.

@csilverman I think I am getting a bit of that tbh. Probably because we had so much high hopes back then, could do so much, and it was getting better and better…and we could imagine how great it could be…and then they started pulling the rug from under us, and worse not even leaving an excellent product once attained but were determined to degrade it. We are nostalgic for those hopeful days those OS, tech, software represented an upgrade in experience and connection.

Read an article recently that claimed autistic individuals are less likely to succumb to marketing and impulse buying. I think this is true about myself.

I am aware that AuDHD can often work against this, and make shopping a dreadful experience because of the push and pull of "wanting" but not "needing" something. I'd love to hear y'all's experiences/opinions.

When I was younger & for a long time I was also gullible. I really sharpened my discernment the hard way. I’ve always been wary of marketing, but mostly, I just liked what I liked & that was extremely rarely the popular, or fashionable thing. I was less excited about shopping than most as a result. However I loved thrifting, vintage, never followed trends, I had my own taste & style & eventually became a fashion designer to create what I wanted to wear.

Instead they don’t just minimize the real reasons, they completely erase them.
They bury the lede so much it doesn’t see the light of day.
They do this because it makes those struggling with Biden and DNC for much more important reasons look foolish. Shallow. Like they are overreacting, or bigoted.
They use Harris & RFKJr as reasons/scapegoats when Harris stands beside him now as VP…

It should be so fucking easy. A cakewalk. Instead they make it almost impossible and with heavy hearts and with frustration for a majority of people. If they do vote for him, it is gritting their teeth and in spite of him.

I hope they elect him to spite him and protest him every single day before & after until he makes the changes needed. People deserve more and better than this bullshit.

They use the term ‘inflation’ because it is completely disconnected from both the capitalist exploitation and the suffering of people.
It is just inflation, like it happens by magic, no one knows why. It’s a mystery. Can’t be helped.
Like we have people with mystery taboo disease that must not be named, so it cannot be averted.

It’s not genocide and racism or poverty, it’s immigration we are apparently upset about.
It’s the right’s talking point about age for Biden, and it is racism & misogyny that they must confront to imagine any woman be President & not still what is actually nonetheless an old white supremacist man who wants power and thinks ‘he’s the best person for the job’ in this moment.
