For hundreds of years and long before the official creation of game parks as a means to environmental conservation the Maasai moved and grazed their herds throughout the Rift Valley without causing damage to the land or its resident wildlife. They did this mainly by migrating seasonally across large swaths of territory, leaving the land plenty of time to recover before cycling back to graze it again.

I was trying to know why Meru County is leading in cancer cases, there a lot of children in Meru hospice that are living with cancer, then I came along a story of a foreign oil company that made a deal with then Moi government in 80s to bury chemicals with carcinogenic in Kargi desert in Marsabit County. Then it lead me to this documentary by Dennis Onsarigo. The death is not normal, there is a sense that water sources was contaminated from Wajir, Marsabit, Meru and Isiolo.

Scars on survivors' bodies remind Rwandans of the killings. A deep trauma also remains.
